This is my list of potential replacements at OSU.

1. Urban Meyer- Of course Urban is the top of the list right now and might be the best pick of the list. He did school Tressel in the BCS National Title game.
2. Jon Gruden- I like this pick. Gruden is the type of coach that reminds you of Woody and would electrify the Buckeye Nation. He played under Mike Kelly at UD and coached with the College Football Hall of Fame coach early in his career. Gruden was born to be head coach at Ohio State. Now, will he do it?
3. Gary Patterson- This guy is an Ohio guy and would understand the importance put on saturday afternoons in Columbus. He has the pedigree.
4. Bo Pelini- You think Pelini wouldn't come back to C-Bus and heal his alma mater? Yes he would. He is probably the best pick in my estimation to come back to the Buckeye Nation and lead us out of the woods.
5. Gary Pinkel- Mizzou would hate to lose this guy and i think he might be a bit old for this position.
6. Tony Dungy- This is a laugher. No way he does this or even considers it.
7. Jim Bollman- Current OSU O-Coordinator. Would be able to pick up where Tress left off. Might be a long-shot.
8. Luke Fickell- Fickell might be the only guy to take the job depending on teh outcome of the sanctions. If they are too steep get ready for Coach Fickell and a few lean seasons as both coach and program grow.

Freak: Here's my 2 cents on each....

1. Urban Meyer- Did wonders as a disciplinarian at BG and Utah. Seemed to have issues at Florida. IMHO, his image as a disciplinarian and character guy took a big hit in Gainesville. He'd win in Columbus for sure, we wouldn't see an end to the off-the-field stuff though.
2. Jon Gruden- Chuckie irritates me to no end. I know it is petty, but his fake facial expressions drive me nuts. Also, I'm not convinced he can be a sustained winner. He won the SB with Dungy's guys, but left the team in pretty bad shape.
3. Gary Patterson- I am unaware of any Ohio connection. Not sure the guys he brings in to TCU are that different from the problem types we get in Columbus.
4. Bo Pelini- Passionate, for sure. Always seems to be apologizing, or needing to aplogize, for something. Ultimate ticking timebomb, IMO.
5. Gary Pinkel- Did good things at Toledo and Mizzou. Thought there were some issues at Mizzou recently. Not sure that would a step in the right direction.
6. Tony Dungy- I consider him the anti-Chuckie, in a good way. Just don't think he'd want the job.
7. Jim Bollman- Having Ohio O.C. on your resume seems to be a guarantee to not get your calls returned.
8. Luke Fickell- .I hope he cleans house, beats Michigan, and puts himself in a position to have "interim" stripped from his title.

Too early to be predicting big names until the hammer falls. OSU is not as attractive a job if they get a 3 year bowl ban with loss of scholarships to boot. Unless he's aching for a challenge of wallowing through that type of situation Meyer etc would be better to wait for some other good program to get rid of their coach with the cupboard full (Oklahoma?)

I think the bowl ban will be 1 or 2, which would be manageable for even the top coaches.

They need to not delay this a year and take the bowl ban right now. They have an awesome QB coming in, he can use the year to prepare and they can get back to the business of winning Big Ten titles and out of the free tattoo business. (Someone should tell these guys tattoos are dumb.)

Lets say they get a 2 yr ban(fingers crossed!).
This yr and then next yr when a new coach would be coming in, so thats only one yr they would have to sit.

I'm rooting for Coach Fickell to do very well this season and have the "Interim" tag removed permanently! I also believe that he'll need to re-organize the House that Tressel built and infuse his own foundation by re-establishing his regime, his plans, his discipline, his style and his NEW GOALS for The Ohio State University Football program!!!

I won't deny that I've been a supporter of TP in the past, but TP and those who continue to defy authority need to be set straight and be released from their athletic scholarship; beginning IMMEDIATELY... I'm one for second, third and more chances but CONTINUED DEFIANCE should not be tolerated at any level!

I know this is a reach but what about Chris Spielman? He knows football and OSU very well and I believe would be an incredible recruiter! Don't think he would ever leave his cushy analyst job though! Hey I'm a dreamer!

Wasn't he like 1-17 with the Destroyers in his one and only coaching job ever? I think he is a great human being and was one of the Buckeye's all-time bests. However, I think he is a lousy sports announcer and would make a worse coach. Just my opinion.
