Being a SouthEast sider, I hear alot of not so good things going on there. Not just the usual prep school recruiting, but also poor academic and attendance practices.........Will be interested in the audit

Lots of investigating going on in athletic programs these days in Central Ohio!!

It really chaps me that they won't be finished with this until after the tourney.

But again, their boys and girls basketball teams will go through the tourney, maybe each win a state title....then it will end up being vacated, etc....why not nip this in the bud well ahead of time??? OHSAA could have investigated them year after year.

Hank/Longball: Any idea what the nature of the investigation and/or violations are? Is it recruiting? Academic standards? Any ideas?

When the OHSAA brings in outside investigators, its a biggie. HP claims to not even know about the inquiry until they read about it in the Dispatch this week...to me that says the OHSAA have had their guys down there perched in trees .

I've heard this is athletically related, but my guy also says they may find some academic issues as well......He says the only way to truly assess academic performance there is the ACT.....Grades and OGT is a joke.

I can tell you that the OHSAA "investigations" are a joke, they don't investigate at all they rule on whatever evidence the complaining school presents then you are forced to appeal and or settle, either way you don't have a chance. Now if they bring in their outside investigators then it is most likely a different story.

Just speaking from experience!

Let us just have separate championships for public and private schools and put all of this to rest.

Plenty of open enrollment schools have joined the recruiting game.

The only fair way is to have 6 divisions public and private and 4 regions in the state. That way we could have 48 state champions in football and everybody would be happy.

The DDN has an interesting article on Harvest Prep, too: http://www.daytondailynews.com/dayto...a-1118354.html

"Ten years ago, televangelist Rod Parsley's college team — then known as World Harvest Bible College — was trouncing almost every junior college and small four-year school it played, so I went over to do a story on this supposedly wondrous new basketball power.

It turned out the school was using a bunch of ringers.

World Harvest was led by Alvin Mobley, a 6-foot-8 shot-blocking, tomahawk-dunking, long-range shooting star who one rival — Randy Lincicome, now a Wittenberg assistant, but back then the head coach at OSU-Newark — called “a giant among kids.”

And Mobley was just that.

Prior to coming to World Harvest as a so-called “college player,” he had played briefly at three other colleges in Florida and New York and then embarked on a long pro career that included stints with Quad Cities in the Continental Basketball Association, the Wisconsin Blast in the International Basketball Association and tours in pro leagues in Portugal, Holland, Austria and Mexico, where he said he averaged 39 points a game and was the league MVP."

headliner: Thanks for the link. Very interesting, and very disturbing. Gotta feel bad for the Fort Laromie gals. This clown's shenanigans might have cost them two titles.

That is one of the true crimes of rule breakers. Kids from other programs who were denied a league title, district title, final 4, 1st team all -league.. because of a program cheating.

Kids have one chance to go through high school. It is a shame when adults do these things. The hammer should have been brought down on HP a LONG time ago. Their own league has turned them in on numerous occasions.

Underdog: Agreed. Even if they were to strip HP of the title and give it to the Runners-up, the other girls have been forever denied the experience and joy of actually winning the title on the court and utter exhileration one feels hoisting a championship trophy over your head when the final buzzer has sounded.

Overall I believe the OHSAA is a very poor governing body. Their shoddy work has really come to light the last 6-8 years.
