Default St. Clairsville 52 Ridgewood 51 - 03-08-2011, 10:31 PM

StC starts out slow (down 10-0) but fights back to take the win tonight. StC was a better team in the second half. Overall I think it was a hard fought game, some rough fouls but a good win for the Devils.

Next up is Garaway on Friday @ 7pm. What are everyone's thoughts on this match up?

Garaway will be a tough match up for the Devils. Their defense is awesome and they will be all over Monteroso. The rest of the team will need to find a way to score if they want to beat Garaway. Also, Devils are going to need to be tougher and more controlled under the basket.
Ridgewood was a great game and they out played their very tired opponent in the second half. They were much better conditioned than Ridgewood and it showed....big time! Congrats Devils!

Ridgewood outscored St. C. 10-4 in the 4th and St. C. was awful at the line. How can you say they outplayed a "very tired" opponent? Ridgewood won 3 out of 4 quarters. Unfortunately, the one they lost was by too much and number 5 caught fire. He was about all St. C. had last night. 47% of their points and 14 in the 3rd. Came down to the end, the Wood missed a makeable shot and St C. lives to play again. Could have very easily went the other way.

StC won, but Ridgewood handed it to them on a silver platter. I am not from Ridgewood, so this is sour grapes. StC had one good quarter and Ridgewood missed a lot of easy shots in last 3 minutes of game.

Garaway will win final and I dont think it will be close unless they choose to hold ball a bunch

Oh I agree their shooting was terrible at the line and not many shots fell in the 4th quarter, but it's not from lack of taking the shots.. I don't have the stats on the game but Ridgewood's defense wasn't so spectacular in the second half that St. C wasn't getting a shot off. Ridgewood was looking tired after the half and St. C pressed them a good bit. The game was great and you're right it could have gone either way, I think that's because each team only played half a game. Ridgewood came on strong in the first half and St. C caught up in the second... great game though, that's what high school basketball should be like! Exciting!
I have a feeling that St. C might be in over their heads on Friday with Garaway because they aren't very deep like Garaway is. St. C has one kid (#5 Monteroso) that is showing up week after week...it's going to take a lot more than that to beat the Pirates.

My unbiased comments. I have only one game to base them on.

starters- overall, equal talent. Garaway might have an edge with Honingford, match up problems. Very slight adv to Garaway.

bench- didn't see much of a bench for either team. Big drop off to second teams. No adv.

Coaching- Garaway above avg. St C wins in spite of it with talent. Big adv to Garaway.

Good luck to both teams.

I have never seen Garaway but have heard good things. The only assessment that I can make is that, St.C in no way played their best basketball on Tuesday night. St.C is a good team and good bench players. I am hoping StC comes out strong tomorrow night. I know this is not going to be an easy game for StC but I think Clifford will have the Devils ready for a dog fight tomorrow night (at least I hope).

Good luck to Garaway. Here we go Devils!!!
