#1 Delphos St. John's (14-0) vs. #1 Shadyside (13-1)

DSJ returns to the DVI State Championship to attempt to claim what it couldn't last season. The Blue Jays have been a dominant team from the MAC all playoffs. Most of the team has returned from the state runner up squad. Shadyside is entering the title game off an impressive win over Mogadore, 28-13. Can Shadyside knock off the favored Jays? What are your thoughts?

The one thing i like about Shadyside is that they know they can be beat but they also know how to stay focused and work together ....with alldo respect to the delphos powerhouse i think the tigers can pull this one out

it is a chore to beat a private school in the state final,it has been done before.why are there usually 8 out of 12 private schools?the answer starts with an r.

I believe I read elsewhere that EVERY starter for DSJ started kindergarten here. If we recruit, we're darn good at it to know which five year olds will grow up to be good football players.

It's an even bigger chore to beat a MAC team in the state finals.

i dont know about dsj and i wont speculate,newark catholic has boys from 5 counties,iknow they say its education,i question it.

DSJ does not recruit. I agree that it's a bigger issue to beat a MAC school than it is a private school. I love DSJ in this match up. Traditionally the DVI MAC schools have dominated the DVI State Championship. This same DSJ team is returning to the state final for the second straight season. Having that experience will be crucial.

Newark Catholic does not have kids from 5 counties. I know this because I know a ton of people that went and go to Newark Catholic. The only county that is primarily prominent in Newark Catholic enrollment is Licking County. No, they do not get kids from Fairfield County, neither Franklin County. They may get kids that went to a catholic school in those counties, but doesn't mean they get kids from those counties.

a poster on the north form called shadyside a garbage school,that should give tigers added incentive to win this game,i dont know a person from dephos,but im begining to dislike dsj.

big_tiger_fan1, I don't think a true DSJ fan would ever say something like that. The MAC faithful are always some of the best and most respectful posters. This is coming from a general high school football fan as well. As far as the game, how will Shadyside match up size wise? DSJ is very big and physical. To compete with them you'll definitely need to be ready for their ability in the trenches.

You have to understand one thing church run schools are just that and do not have to recruit they get to pull from whatever part of the state they like .....

If people were more familiar with DSJ they would realize that recruiting is not an issue and does not make their success. The Blue Jays success comes from competing in the best conference in the state, the MAC.
