Default Week 11: Big Walnut @ Canal Winchester - 10-31-2010, 01:24 PM

How many times have these two schools met in the past? How will they match up on Friday night? It should be a good one!

I'll be pulling for Big Walnut but I see Canal as a well balanced team with many offensive weapons. Nice experience at QB, RB and WR. Lately, Big Walnut has been plagued with turnovers, special team blunders, you name it. All of which are uncharacteristic of Big Walnut. If Big Walnut can eliminate these mistakes, keep the ball away from CW by controlling the T.O.P., and execute their own offense plan, they will have a real chance of upsetting Canal. But if they play sloppy, it will get ugly. This here is D2 playoffs-unchartered water for the Eagles. Good Luck to both teams.

GO BIG NUT!

According to my records, this is the first meeting ever between Big Walnut and Canal, and it might not be a good one for the Golden Eagles.

They had great difficulty stopping New Albany's run game and they got into a back and forth battle with Mount Vernon the week after. They also lost quarterback Tyler Beam against Franklin Heights last week; not sure if he'll play Friday night.

But, if Beam can't go, Carson Chatterton is certainly a capable quarterback. Lucas Garcia and Jake Walaszek are solid in the backfield, and Brandon Magyari, Seth Wandling and Gabe Kitchen are all good receivers.

I'm rooting for Big Walnut, but they'll still have to play a solid game to beat the Indians.

Hamilton Township did a 7 on 7 at Davidson in the summer and Big walnut was there, if that is all the speed Big Walnut has it will be a long night at Canal .
I will take Canal if everyone is healthy .

There is not great talent without great will power.

So with that school of thought, when BW scrimmaged Teays Valley and beat them something like 52-7 through 3 qtrs. Does that mean BW wins since CW only beat them by 22? Of course not. This should be a good game. Both teams will have to be on top of their game to win. NOBODY gets to the playoffs by playing a soft schedule. The battle of the trenches should be very interesting.

Just a reminder.....buy your tickets from the school rather than waiting to get them at the gate. Each school will get a percentage of the cut from each pre-sale ticket sold.

Canal Winchester and Big Walnut have never played each other but CW did play a Walnut Twp. in 1928. I don't know if that is related to the current BW or not.

It will be a packed house at Mike Locke Stadium is Fri. Maybe more people than the Grove City game.

I'm not 100% positive, but I believe Walnut Twp is now Millersport. And I probably just dated myself.

Indians can't continue to lose the turnover battle as they have recently....need to take care of the rock! How many yards has Drew Black thrown for this season? How does that rank on the school list (for one season)? I would wager that he must be near the top for highest completion percentage....

NBC4 Football Friday Night will be there for tailgating at 5. Come early and show some spirit.

Also there is a pep rally and last chance to buy tickets at the school Thursday evening at 7:30. No presale tix Friday so get them today! Presale tickets give a percentage to the school, gameday tix go to the state.

Let's go Indians.
