Walsh Jesuit’s Tim Faix, 17, has accepted an academic and athletic scholarship to Kent State University, where he will become a member of the school’s NCAA Division I baseball team. When Faix signs a National Letter of Intent in November, he will become the first member of the Class of 2011 to advance to collegiate baseball and the 41st Walsh Jesuit baseball player in the last 15 years to advance to the Division I level.
The 6-foot-2, 190-pound Faix, a left-handed pitcher, was instrumental in helping the Warriors reach the Division II state championship game in both 2010 and 2009. Last season, in fact, the team enjoyed a national ranking from nearly every major baseball publication, including reaching the pinnacle of No. 1 by MaxPreps/CBS Sports, ESPN Rise, Collegiate Baseball, and Rivals.com. In addition, the team was ranked nationally as high as No. 2 in the USAToday Super 25.
