Default Week 5: The battle of Picktown - Central @ North - 09-18-2010, 06:57 PM

Might as well start the thread.

Not many North posters here. Maybe this game will draw them out.

Who wants to be first to share their thoughts on the game?

No one will want it more than North but I don't think they can hang with Tiger Speed!!!! Tigers 28-7.

Won't be close.....Central by AT LEAST 21....probably more. They can hang up front, but not on the edges...too much speed. I thought that North would lose to Mooney and Central..figured they might be able to sqeeze in the playoff with 7-3 record, and that's exactly what has to happen. North has to run the table after this loss. I think they can match up w/Lancaster after watching Central beat on them last night. Don't think PC will be tested within 20 points until the regional final.

I'm a North fan, and I think North will give Central a little more trouble than they are expecting early on, but the Tigers should win this game by at least two scores.

North could easily be 3-1 with a great shot at the playoffs, but North is a currently a dinged up team following a really tough loss at Groveport. The Panthers are beginning to establish a winning culture, but it isn't yet strong enough to take out a very good Central team.

Sounds like North had a legit shot at beating Gport well into the 3rd qtr. but got intercepted for a pick six and momentum changed. The Tigers will start slow as usual with some of that a direct result of Norths enthusiam which won't stop until PC scores once. If the field is dry Pick C's "O" and "D" will be even faster and hard for North to contend with. Norths QB will be back so watch for short side to side passes. OneT wants to know one thing "Where's the party Officer?"

What has been some of North strengths and weaknesses this season? Haven't really heard much about them this year. I know last year they were mostly a power running football team and stuffed the run on defense as well. What is the identity of this year's panthers?

They can run the ball when the commit to it w/the big line, they also have some weapons to throw the ball when Z Olszewski is in there and he has the time. Their two biggest problems I feel play right into Central two biggest strengths. Offensively, they have a problem giving the QB enough time to get it to his receivers where PC's strenght is their defensive quickness...not a good matchup. The other is their defense on the perimeter. I think Central can gash them on runs around the ends and if they can get their premier players in space w/the ball, PN doesn't have the TEAM speed to handle them. They do have a few players w/speed, but as a team it's a missmatch.

I'd look for a huge game for Speedy and Hardy and not so much w/Pinnick.

North struggles with tackling occasionally as well. Speedy Hammond is going to challenge North the same way Mooney's RB did, because while Hammond is pretty quick, he doesn't go down easily either.

If North is going to be in this game, they need to limit Speedy's damage. PC's running game seems just as good as Mooney's, which is why I don't think North can win this game.

Trust me Im not a Tiger fan, but I do respect there program. My parents live in the Pickerington district now, so its kinda hard not to root for them when they are not playing Groveport Madison. But just like past years the family flies the Cruiser flag with Pride.

Tigers 34
Panthers 13

I really can't see this one being close. PC swept both games last year (albeit closely) and they are greatly improved, while Pick North is no where as talented as they were last year.

They'll be pumped up, but PN has been too self destructive this year to compete with the talent and depth Central has. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Until week 14, Pick Central can only beat themselves.

I agree with Buford Pusser's take... I truly believe that this game will get out of hand early because this Tigers squad is very hungry towards making a strong running toward the OCC, plus leave an indellible impression towards a potential run towards the great State prize!!!

GO Tigers!!! Defeat the pitter patters!!!

I find it interesting that a lot of teams are trying a 'hurry-up' style offense against the tigers to limit their substitutions. I feel that it works for a little bit if the defense is unprepared, but teams don't get away from it quick enough before it bites them in the rear end. I think North will try using the hurry up, but the questions are how much success will it have and for how long.

Here's a little tid-bit of information. Central currently has the #1 Div. I defense in the state. Giving up an average of 6.66 points p/game followed by Centerville at 6.76.

I don't see this one being close like the games last year...Tigers are too good and I think North is not quite as good this go around

I like another shut out for the Central....35-0

I think this game will be close in the first half. I feel PN will strike hard and fast early in the game. I would be as bold to say that the game could be PN7 to 3 PC. North's backs are against a wall and they need this win more than PC. The difference will be in the second half. PC will make their adjustments and lay down the hammer. PC 24 PN 10.

This crowd should be insane. I'm glad this game stays in Picktown. GO TIGERS!!!!!

I hope this one is as close as last year's game, but I don't think so! I think PC has a chance this year to go all the way.

Jazzy Jeff (the Grand Voice on Ohio High) has spoken... for a minute there I was almost tempted to break out my credit card and place my order! Back to this contest; I agree with Eminem and I too believe that this contest will get out of hand and that the Tigers Defense will force T.O.s which will lead to short fields and many TDs -

Final Score Prediction: Tigers 45 - Panthers 6 (Rivalry #2 - there is respect but lil love between the two)

Looking forward to a great Atmosphere on Friday night. The only downfall to that, as it is with most newer stadiums, is the distance of the stands from the field. It will be interesting to see what the students have in store. Hoping it is all in good taste yet spirited and loud.

As for the game on the field.

The performance by the Tiger Defense on Friday night was phenomenal. If they can duplicate that performance, it will be a tough row to hoe for the Panther ground game. The D line has played very well keeping the pad level down and disrupting the rush lanes. The linebackers have played very well getting to the right place at the right time. The rotation of players to the field has been well timed IMHO and puts the pressure on the O. This years Panther squad doesn't seem to have the punishing ground game of a year ago. Their backs are quick and good tackling will make me sit in my seat easier.

The Def backfield should see more action this week as the Panthers will put the ball in the air more than Lancaster. They will have to contain #11 when/if he gets his hands on the ball. I have seen the Panthers twice (on TV versus Mooney and live versus Logan) and they will throw the deep ball occasionally. I would love to see the Tigers get a pick or two.

I think the Tiger O will gain momentum early this week, just a feeling. My observation of the Panther D from the first two games was that tackling was an area of opportunity. The Tiger O line is gaining momentum and they need to control the game early. It will be a long night for the Panther DB's if the timing on the long ball is there.

Hoping the RB's are resting up to run low and hard to get past the first two levels. Then may they be swift and elusive.

Special teams,,, until proven otherwise, advantage Tigers.

Can't wait until Friday.

Go Tigers!!! Beat the Panthers!!!

We Are ..... CENTRAL!! aka THE DIRTY "C"
