Default Week 1: Louisville @ Walsh Jesuit - 08-21-2010, 05:35 PM

First time match up between these two schools. Coach John DeMarco starts his tenure as Louisville head coach. What players should each team look out for other than the QB from Walsh who is heading to Michigan State? Louisville will be in their 5-3 defense and their spread offense. What will Walsh bring to the table? Other thoughts and predictions on this game?

Costly penalties and turnovers.....the same thing most evenly matched first games come down to. The winner of this one will be the team that makes the least of these, and capitalizes the most off the other teams. Most years under Farrah, the Leopards hit the ground running...we've played some of our best football early in the year. It will be interresting to see if the same applies this year with DeMarco. Defense has to be fast and disciplined, we have speed all over the field on defense and IMO this is what will "wow" Walsh. You cannot simulate our team speed in practice, and hopefully this will throw off the timing of their offense. The Leps also have alot of starts under their belt in the pass coverage department, so these experienced kids cannot give up big plays...keep it in front of you.
On offense we need to be patient and hold on to the ball. Keep pounding it, and throw some timely passes....but we cannot put the ball on the ground and expect to beat a team like Walsh. I will be suprised if we run the ball less than 50 times, and throw it more than 10. I don't see this being a high scoring game, and i'm glad we have a good fieldgoal kicker.

I think the only way we run 50 times is if they can't stop it. I've heard Neff is much more comfortable putting the ball in the air than he was last year. As I've said in other threads I think one of the keys for a Leopard win is getting to the Walsh QB quickly. A lot depends on our D Line play.

With Neff, Sluss and Poyser in the backfield, our running game will deff. be what we "go to", at least early in the year. Neff has gotten better, but this will be a run first and pass second offense. Walsh will have their hands full trying to stop these three, and running will give us our best chance to control the game, and keep the ball out of their QB's hands.

That makes sense Lynus. I definitely liked what I saw out of Sluss at the scrimmage, I just don't want us to have the same problems we had last year where EVERYONE knew we were going to run. We were too easy to defend.

I think this is going to be a great game. I good game to judge how the team is and how they will do this season. A lot of people have wrote this team off. The papers and others outside Louisville.

Seniors it is your time to shine. Your time to step up and show the non-believers who you are and why Louisville just reloads ever year.

I'm hearing the seating is limited...sounds like they will let you stand at the fence. Hasn't been much input from the Walsh faithfull.

Anybody know if there is a track around. Sounds like the fence will win for me. Fence is a great place to watch a game.

Should be a good game. There are not many, if any Walsh followers here. They are usually large on the line and very athletic. Usually, send 1-2OL to D1 yearly. They have been more of a power running attack team the past few years. Their qb is highly touted and seems to be able to air it out. Seating is not great there, but larger than I think you assume. Can't recall if they have a track or not. Sound system during pregame is ANNOYING, they play the Tomahawk/FSU warchant for 30mins straight. Going up rt8 to Steeles Corner can be a nightmare if there is a concert at Blossom that night.

Very little seating on the visitors side...get there early if you want to sit. Plenty of fence space though. Louisville needs to play their best against 11 Walsh players and the 4 or 5 officials who provide a great deal of "assistance" to the Warriors.

Warriors normally get four chances to make a first down, but get quite a few "redo's" if they need it.
Penalty flags really start flying if their opponent is driving deep. Especially if the game is on the line.
Plan on crossing the goal line three times to earn six points.

i think it will be a close hard fought game that comes down to special teams. and for that the edge goes to LOUISVILLE. LEPS WIN BY 3.

He didn't say who was receiving the beating. Don't let his name fool you he knows about the 'Ville and how we grind teams down. Last year's team gave up a TOTAL of 30 points in the second half of games. Supposed "down" year or not the kids in blue and white will come out hitting this Friday night and it will continue all game long. That's kind of our thing........

I don't have a dog in this hunt but the Walsh kicker is rated #2 and # 3 nationally in his class by Chris Sailer and Kohl's. If you have to ask who they are you don't know about special teams. I've watched him kick many times and he is consistent 50 plus on field goals. His kickoffs will be in the end zone. If your kicker is better than him than good luck to you.

Can you tell us why it will be a beat down or are you one of those people that just talk smack and never return. Specially after you lose.

If you were smart, which you should be then you know that you have the advantage. Any team that recruits the best kids around the akron area should be a great team. THE VILLE is born and raised in the School district and we are a public school.

I would rather have a good public school from the small town community that a large area like akron and recruit my kids to make a all-star team.

And for the beat down, just ask Akron Hoban how that worked out for them two years ago when they thought all they had to do was show up and win. Last year I think they knew that they better come to play and still couldn't get it done.

Warriordad lets here why you think your team is so great, give some facts and give some reason on why your team is so superior.
Stop talking smack and start backing.
