Default New wrestling coach at Bishop Watterson? - 06-14-2010, 01:22 PM

Can anyone tell me if Bishop Watterson named a new wrestling coach? I read when they advertized in the Dispatch a couple of month's ago and then haven't heard anything.

Sport_daddy, do you know anything about Coach Flynn. Where he coach before Watterson? Where did he wrestle. Just seems like they have a lot of athletes walking those halls that could be wrestling. Just remember them from the late 70's & 80's having a strong program.

Well I guess maybe I should chime in to answer your questions! My name is Brian Flynn. I have spent the last 3 seasons assisting at Bishop Watterson. Prior to that I volunteer for half a season at my alma matter, Midview High School under the direction of Jim Black. Prior to coaching at Bishop Watterson I spent 4 years serving in the United States Marine Corps.

I agree that there are a lot of athletes walking the halls that could be wresting and it is my intent to get them in our new wresting room. I am currently searching for an assistant to help me reach that goal along with putting together a off season lifting program and wrestling program. It will take time to get this program back where it once was but I am confident it can and will be. My coaching philosophy is basic and simple: Hard work, great conditioning and mastering the basics.

I look forward to getting to know more of the central Ohio wresting community and restoring wrestling at Bishop Watterson!

Coach Flynn

Know anything about officiating?

“ When I was 5 years old, my mom always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down “happy.” They told me I didn’t understand the assignment and I told them they didn’t understand life."

Refman, not really. I sat through this class once where some old man just told stories about years past! :-0 No seriously....I have a ENTIRELY new respect for officials. Very glad I took the course and you will more then likely see me back in the class even if I wont be wearing my stripes next year.
