Well we beat Shelby and they moved up in the polls, so the team is now looking forward to a chance to face Perkins in the Tournament.

Perkins lost their first game on Monday and they too moved up in the polls, so there must be a timing issue with the voting. Regardless, Perkins is a very strong team and still deserves a top-ten high ranking in DII, IMO. A Shelby-Perkins matchup should be a good game.

Again, the polls are one week behind. The results this week are from games played last week ending last Friday, April 30th. Games played after April 30th will be included in next weeks poll.

hogwild. We beat Shelby a week ago, so it would have been included in this poll. Mister Breeze, you play us first. No disrespect to Shelby, but I think they will have trouble beating Willard and Clyde before they will face the winner of the Lexington Perkins game, if we do face each other. Shelby just lost to Norwalk, that we beat 23-0 I believe earlier in the year. Shelby has a very good pitcher, but when they face a good hitting team they struggle. Plus you really have to look at someone schedule and who they have played. Take Greenville, they have played tough teams and watching them play, they would have no issue with some teams ranked in D2.

In HS softball, it is really very hard to predict what will happen. One night where your team doesn't hit and something bizarre or uncharacteristic happens and a "mediocre" team scratches out a run or two and ends up beating a team that is probably a good bit better talent wise.

In a single elimination tournament the "best" team doesn't always win. In fact, things like I described happen ALL OF THE TIME.

Finaly Gahanna passes Pickerington Central. Gahanna beat PC twice this season and Pick never scored a run on the Lions. Gahanna has also beat Brunswick who is ahead of Gahanna. (the Lions also beat North Union, Mogadore Field, Lakota West, Groveport and Stow this year as well. They were tied with Lebanon when that game suspended due to rain. Three of their losses have been to Grove City twice & Greenville by one run.) Regardless of the other teams records, Pick Central should have dropped behind the Lions two weeks ago.

What a schedule for Gahanna....#1 teams in D1, D2 AND D3, plus games against Stow, Lakota West, Field, Lebanon, Groveport, Pickerington Central, Pickerington North, Brunswick, Upper Arlington and games still to play against Symmes Valley, Lakota East and Watterson. According to the paper today, the Lions are 18-5.

Actually, my team is in DIII and won't be playing you . Based on seeing them twice in our conference and following their games all season long, I think the Perkins has a strong team, deserves to be ranked, and will play well in the tournament. I tip my hat to any team that beats them.

They beat Grove City's JV team. Grove City did not play any of their varsity players when they played Lakewood.
Grove City played their varsity girls against Bradley but they didn't pitch Meyers, they pitched Lykens.

I wondered why the box score didn't show Meyers or Zeufle (catcher) for the Lakewood game. Also, Bradley did not throw their #1 against Lakewood either. Smart move by Moody since the two teams may meet again....
