Terry Weigand an Akron Asst. should be considered, he still has the single season asst record.

He was at Mount with coach Hood for about 12 years, and has been at Akron for 4 years.

Why would Terry want to leave Akron to go get his brains beat out in Tiffin? If you are going to go as a head coach somewhere, at least go somewhere that you can compete.

With the right Talent I think Terry could win in 2 years. It would be tough to leave Akron now with all they have coming back and the addition of ZEKE

NO WAY! That simple. Don't even need to elaborate, but I will.

Do you know how far behind Tiffin is than all the other GLIAC schools? They were lucky to win one game last year. How are they going to get recruits in there that can compete at that level? No one will want to go there because they will know that they will get beat up on, and the guys that they might have a chance at getting will probably choose a D3 school instead because of the chance to win a few games.

I hate to think it, but I don't think Tiffin will ever compete in the GLIAC.

Tiffin has had over 200+ applicants for this job. They have interviewed at least 5 at this point.

Tiffin will be a middle of the pack GLIAC school within 3-4 years with this next hire.

You can have success there, but it must be done right. It is certainly not going to be easy! And they have bumped up all scholarship to fully funded and have also increased overall budget.

I'll believe it when I see it.

Any idea on what they are going to pay the new head coach?

Head Coaching salary has been increased significantly..with that being said it will still fall short of upper level GLIAC coaching salaries.

But there are so many good coaches desperate to get a break and be a head coach, that the money while important isnt going to make them turn it down.

Haha I will too. I do not think Tiffin will even have a .500 record in the next 5 years no matter who they hire.

I have to agree. I hope they can turn the program around, but I don't see it happening within the next 5 years. There is a large gap between Tiffin and success in the GLIAC. Maybe they have a 10-year plan

What is the salary range for a coach at a place like Tiffin?

I'm going to guess that it's around $50,000 - $60,000

With the right person, Id bet big money they could turn it around in 5years easily. 10 full ride scholarships makes it an easy turn around.

With a D2 school, I honestly would hope it's more. Unless I'm way out of the loop of this.

gameover----its not more than 50-60k

Most D2 Head Coaches around the country aren't getting rich.

That's the problem right there. I think most D2 coaches in the GLIAC are at least at $80,000 and the top one's over $100,000.

That's why I say Tiffin will never compete, they won't ever get the coach in there that needs to be there because they won't pay enough.

I know that Tiffin is probably spending more money now, but not long ago the head coach at Tiffin took the assistant coaching position at Ashland. That should say a lot.

Many coaches at the D3 level are making more than the soon to be Tiffin coach. You would think that a D3 coach would want to move up to D2, but no one in there right mind will do that right now.

The Dynasty--

You make some very true points. But....there are MANY quality coaches out there looking to become a head coach. There are plenty of very, very good coaches willing to take the job for a below average salary. The coaching field is just so competitive and head coaching jobs are very hard to get.

One thing many of your are forgetting is players follows coaches. I can remember when Shawnee State was the laughing stock of what was then called the Mid-American Conference. Geno Ford took the job there, and they went from last place to one of the top 3 teams in one year, just because of the players Geno brought in. I understand people say "they'll believe it when they see it" but to think that it's not possible is naive.

Dynasty - Your always bringing up the assistant leaving there and going to Ashland, and while that is a true statement, it was more than one reason why Fleming left Tiffin and it wasn't just because he wasn't get paid enough.

Anyways, Tiffin has there work cut out, the new coach will have a lot of cleaning up to do. But with 10 full scholarships, having a coach with a suitable salary which gives you some stability, things could turn around, or remain the same.
