It's all about the cash! This setup won't solve a thing. Now we'll just be arguing who the 4 teams are and who besides the 2 SEC teams, that will be in it every year, will play against. Such crap.

The SEC has only built this dominant reputation over the past few years. It was only back in 2004 that Auburn went undefeated but got left out of the national championship game in favor of Oklahoma and USC.

Even during the recent streak of championships for the SEC, last year was the only season that two SEC teams were in consideration for the title game.

And if one conference has two of the best four teams, I'd rather see them both on the field playing for the title. Last year I would much rather have been arguing about whether Stanford or Oregon was more deserving of making the field of four, instead of arguing whether Alabama or Oklahoma State was more deserving of a spot in the title game.

Personally I would rather have a 16-team field, with games on campus until the final.

However...while some may prefer the old system, there is no doubt that this will be a better way to determine a national champion.

Alternate years. One year play these 8 games north of Tennessee and the next year south. Let some of those SEC teams see the midwest in November.

This will certainly be an improvement, but it didn't go far enough. I would have preferred an eight team playoff.

Still, the new system is a step in the right direction.

It's a start, but why not just make it eight teams right away?

Because the powers-that-be that run college football are incapable of doing too many things correctly at once.

I wouldn't worry. It will eventually happen. Name me one successful playoff system that hasn't eventually expanded.

I'm in the minority but the old, old system was fine with me. Play the bowls with affiliations to conferences, and vote. Split championships were fine with me. Everyone still argued, and will continue to argue about who the champion is. Guess I'm just old school.
