Exclamation Will high school football return to the Akron Rubber Bowl - 07-01-2012, 05:42 PM

It appears that Akron will have 1 of the teams in the new USFL and that the games will be at the Rubber Bowl in the Spring/Summer (2013 or 2014). Will high school games (especially playoff games) return there? The owners of the USFL team has stated that they will put about $1 million into the press box alone.

Yes. There is a game there very week. It is usually an Akron City Series game, but SVSM and Hudson have also played there every year since it opened. Last year Kent Roosevelt moved its playoff game against Howland there because of the poor condition of their field in Kent.

...There is a lot of history at the Akron Rubber Bowl and I for one would love to see high school football return there.

Hopefully Infocision stadium will host more playoff games in the future, because this stadium deserves to host the state championship games

Oops. I meant SVSM and Hoban. They have played each other there every year since Info opened.

InfoCision is an awesome stadium. I hope that more playoff games are held there. It should be the site for the D I Region Final for sure. Akron's bid for the state finals was superior to the Columbus bid. If the games were played at InfoCision and Dix Stadium in Kent they would blow away the Stark County deal.

I haven't been to a game in Dix Stadium in 40 years. How is it holding up?

Very well. It was recently underwent many updates. The seats, field, and scoreboard are all very nice. Better than Massillon and at least equal with Canton.
