I do not think Dover will face a team like Shaw for the rest of the season. As for the the band, they have been a great band for many many years. Good job Dover.

Sloppy game by both teams. Dover won for 2 reasons, better coaching and better conditioning. Shaw had the better team talentwise, but leading 21-7 midway through the 3rd QT they ran out of gas. Dover was fresh down the stretch.
Shaw's coaches looked like Pat Shurmur, totally befuddled on the sidelines. They called 3 timeouts in the first half because they couldn't get their plays called in time. Plus, calling the fake punt for your own 20!!!!

I have to totally agree with you on this one. I could see Shaw was very tired half way through the third and Dover still looked fresh. It was a great win for really only playing about 1 and 1/2 quarters of offense. That was definitely one of the worst played halves I have seen Dover play in a very long time. Way to get the win though. I give Shaw alot of credit for not folding after Dover took the lead though. If not for a couple bad calls there it may have been a different game. I look for Shaw to do well the rest of their season. Good luck Shaw the rest of the way. Bring us some much needed computer points. Dover better really clean up their game or there could be trouble. With that said I think they will be fine and have a chance at a very good season!!!!! GO DOVER!!!!! BEAT ASHLAND!!!!!

Go Dover!

Good win for Dover after a tough first half of offense. Shaw had some serious speed,Dover receivers had a hard time getting open. I thought defense looked good except for a few big plays. Need to get #45 in the middle of the field, he is a stud. Also, got to keep the turnovers down if you want to make that next step.

Football gods where good to Dover. Won that one in the weight room this past winter. I think Shaw will get Dover some computer points this fall. Nice band too. Dover never quit I loved that. I'm also a Shaw fan now.

Ashland is a whole different animal. But I don't think they have the speed Shaw showed. It still could be a long ride home.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOO DOVER!!

Congratulations to the Tornadoes on the big win last night against Shaw. So how fast were they?

Game ball not to #17. Throw from QB to #9 on 4th down was play of the game and was CLUTCH. Receivers need to be more confident catching the ball.

If I was A Shaw fan, I'd be livid today. Those players were not conditioned well enough and not put in positions to succeed. They had more size and speed at almost every position but between the fake punt, and not going for the PAT at the end (even after the offsides) Shaw really had me scratching my head.

Dover boys looked poised and were hitting hard on D. Our QB has great pocket presence and I love how he let his blocks develop when he did tuck it. Our O line did an outstanding job for week 1 considering their size & all the stunts/UFO junk Shaw D was trying to get pressure with. And my favorite thing I saw was that aside from 2 or 3 breakdowns, our D was in position and flying to the ball.

I don't know how good or bad either team is until we have some other contests to compare, but the Tornadoes came to play and I think Dover's conditioning broke Shaw's spirit. I couldn't ask for a more fun game to watch.

+1 totally.

I thought going for 2 after the last Shaw TD was sheer idiocy. They had a chance to tie the game. I understand they were spent, but they were still explosive and could have busted one in OT. After they got backed up 5 yards you kick the danged thing and take your chances.

But here's the biggest question I have: How does a team that has just come out of pre-season camp and 2-a-days not be in shape? How is that even possible? What were they doing up there in August? If you have played this game, even on the HS level, you can't understand that.

But congrats to Dover. Big win.

1. They're kicker was the guy that had to have 3 injury timeouts for cramps. Doubt he's making a 25 yard field goal with leg cramps.

2. Shaw only had 38 kids, most played both ways, they were gassed and their coach knew it. They weren't going to last the rest of the game, let alone OT, so why set up a chance for OT?

Gassed or not, When you continue to take hits like Dover was laying out in the 4th qtr, it takes a toll on your body and mind. Agree the game was the sloppiest ive seen from an Ifft coached team in quite awhile. A couple WRs got a case of alligator arms and were going down way too easy with very little contact. I thought the Contini kid played a fabulous game from his WR position. The D better get squared away quick or it could be a rough start to season with Ashland looming next week. I was impressed with D-line play, Morris and Farmer are as billed....Big and Good. Glad to see the boys pull one out to start the season.

I didn't think the D line played well at all. No pressure on pass plays and giving up near 300 yards on the ground.

They were in shape. They just weren't better conditioned. Playing a team like Dover wore them down and half way through the 3rd it got to them, and you could tell. After almost every play they'd get up slow and some even had to be helped off and sit out a few plays. If you saw the Canfield games at Canfield same thing happened to their team. They were just lucky and made the 2-pt conversions to win those games. We flat out wore Shaw down. Thats why they still went for 2 even after the penalty. I thought the worse call was the fake punt with just under 6 min. to play and the game tied. Gave us the short field. I thought our offense played horrible till about halfway through the 3rd. Gonna have to fix our problems this week of practice. Maybe it's good we get an extra day of practice this week before Ashland next friday.

Go Dover! Beat Ashland!

This guy knows what he's talking about.

And as for the fake punt; I'm not sure you can blame the Shaw coach for that one. If you noticed afterwards, he appeared to chew out the kid who attempted it as he came off the field so, it may be that the kid took it upon himself to try it. And, had Dover's #17 not made the outstanding one-on-one open field tackle, the play might have gone for 20+ yards.
