People don't recognize anything but football. I remember when it was proposed that football be granted additional practice days in the Spring and people were falling all over themselves saying what a tremendous idea that was....well, almost all. I certainly wasn't and I like football about as well as anyone I know, but it would take even more athletes away from the other sports and no one really seemed to care all that much except a few coaches of those sports that would lose participants. It's so bad it's sort of like...Our school just won 17 out of 18 league Championships to win the All-Sports Trophy, and some dimwit would pipe up with...."Yeah, but we won football!!!!

I can't imagine the conference folding this soon. However, if it is I hope Otsego tries to convince the NWOAL to allow it to be their tenth league school.

Not sure they would fold as they would still have 6 teams if Elmwood and Woodmore go to MAL as some expect

I just went to the conference website. Blakeslee is right, Elmwood and Woodmore did quite well if all fall sports are taken into consideration. Some people look at the overall situation and some only look at football. I remember when Oak Harbor left the SLL based on computer points, or lack there of alone.

There sure are a lot of rumors and speculation out there. How does this sound?

Gibsonburg, Woodmore, Northwood, Ottawa Hills, Elmwood, Lakota, and either North Baltimore or Danbury

Eastwood, Genoa, Lake, Rossford, Otsego, Fostoria, and Maumee

Isn't Maumee a little big to be in a conference DIV and one DIII schools?

The NWOAL is officially looking for another school....you'd have to think Otsego or Tinora is high on that list. The MAL officially has three open spots now...let the dominos fall as they may.

The MAL has only 3 football playing schools left (Fremont St. Joe, Tiffin Calvert, and Lakota) I think it is done unless the NBC folds and they can add about 5 schools. This of course happens after next season, (Carey, Mohawk, Seneca East to the N10 and Hopewell-Louden and North Baltimore to the BVC) There is talk of the MAL becoming a Basketball League (or everything but football) with the remaining 3members and the nonfootball playing MAL members. (Old Fort, New Reigel, Bettsville, and Fostoria St. Wendelin) Hopewell-Louden has expressed interest in this set up also while playing in the BVC, a dual membership similar to Pandora Gilboa and Leipsic (current BVC members) who also compete in the PCL in Basketball and Baseball. As for Elmwood to the BVC, I doubt that very much.

I think it's a thought with good possibility. I had read a few years ago when Gibsonburg agreed to join the TAAC that the then-commissioner said expansion later on was still a possibility, but wouldn't name anyone as a candidate. A few years later with a new commissioner, I still haven't heard any word on that. I have to wonder though if the TAAC would consider Lakota, Calvert, and St. Joe's as football-only members or as full members if the MAL folds. Can't say for sure if Woodmore would find that more appealing than the NBC. Would also hate to see the NBC drop to 6.

Why would elmwood not want to go to bvc they play them already better suited for them they might have a chance at winning league championships. I know they compete in the NBC ok but football I just can't see it so they probably won't make playoffs they might have a better shot in bvc.

The BVC sent out letters of interest to all the schools that they were considering for possible expansion. I don't think Elmwood is one of the schools that they are considering (but I could be wrong and things change) I think that the BVC will add 2 more schools (in addition to Hopewell Louden and North Baltimore) I still don't count out Riverdale to the BVC even though they have committed to the N10. (they have waited years to get a chance to join the BVC) I can see maybe Ada, Columbus Grove, or even Tiffin Calvert before Elmwood, but again the picture seems to change daily.
