I have never been a Yankee fan, but I have a great deal of respect for Derek Jeter. He seems to symbolize everything good about being a professional athlete and he plays the game hard every time he takes the field. We need more guys like this. Role models are getting a little bit hard to find.

Hate the Yankees but find it impossible to root against Jeter.

I'm glad he is a Yankee because they are the most popular team and get the most tv exposure as a result.
The best representative of the sport being on the team that gets the most exposure is a good thing for baseball imo.
