I hope Howland can be #2 in this region. Howland lost a lot of starters and are small. Small might be a good thing though.

for me it appears as though Aurora is the clear favorite
with maybe kent, howland, walsh, and even tallmadge all a toss up for 2-5

Howland fans seem a little concerned about the O-line but this program seems to always reload. Who are they looking at on their O-line?

Probably wont know till after the Boardman scrimmage.. Many names challenging for the spots. 200 to 230 lb lineman though. No really big guys. Even our D line has a 200 lb nt. Im excited to see what transpires because we have had the Big guys and not got deep in the playoffs.

After watching smith vs kent at Akron last year it's hard not to expect great things from howland this year.

stinkin, I recall watching a few freshman games last year at Howland and seeing one kid playing DT who was an absolute tank. Maybe you would know who Im talking about? He was much bigger than the other kids and I would be sure he would have a spot on one of the lines this year.

You all are severely underlooking Tallmadge.

I think NP will make it up past the number 6 spot. Game one for them against the MI team, as long as NP wins, should rack them up some points throughout the year. Good luck to all!

I definitely think tallmadge is a threat in November.
However theres no denying they lost alot.
Tryin Williams was a stud in the backfield an the other rb is gone as well
Plus cipa and the other good lineman are gone
But there's a good amount back and vass is a great coach in a strong program that generally reloads every year

As for np
I'm a portage county native so I can't say I know a lot about them
But I have heard around that they're set for a big year

Cipa graduated, but every other O-lineman is still there. Boggs, Anzaldi, Lowry, and Noel all return. They have good game time experience and should fill Cipas void. As for the RB situation, Tallmadge has three backs coming, maybe four. Linn is speedy and has quick cuts like Tyrin and had some good numbers when he played for Norton. Clark is a David Seisel type back with good power and speed. Zach Skraba will be the Schauer type of back the tough runner with decent open field speed. Both those aspects will be great. I think better than the previous year. As for the receivers they return 3 starters, the best one being Wood. Cordt Skraba and Byron Cook return as well at Wide Receiver. You all know Gotto is back, one of the top QB's in NEO. As for the D-line, White returns, Clark is a new guy on that line who is quick off the ball and will do some damage. O-line and D-line will be pretty similar. Our whole LB core returns with Banks, Wood, Zach Skraba and Moore. CB's will be Cook, Linn and Cleary, a new player who might be the fastest on the team. Cordt Skraba will be moving to Safety this year. Most of those players I just named are 2 year starters going on 3 years. Some being 3 year starters going on 4 years. Tallmadge also will be bringing up some good talent from the younger classes, new speed and size. Should be fun to watch it all work out. They'll be looking to run over that second round hump they've been stuck on, especially those seniors. Expect a solid team with even more determination.

I am bringing an old thread to the top so we can see what a lot on here were saying about region 5 early in the year and compare with what the current picture looks like.

For those that are adept at the computer system I have a question. I believe that both Struthers and Howland still have a chance for the playoffs with a loss. What is the scenario that could occur enabling either of these teams to get into week 11 with a loss?

Kent Roosevelt, Chardon, and Tallmadge first teams in the region to clinch a playoff spot after their week 9 victories.

I sure am hoping the Howland Tigers can close the regular season with a win over Struthers, That is going to be one of the main games affecting this region this week. The other big games as far as I know are Aurora at Kenston, New Philadelphia vs Dover, Kent vs Ravenna ans Madison vs Riverside. I am sure I am probably missing another big match up. What are your thoughts on these games? or others I didn't list.

I think at this point Tallmadge appears to be the favorite once the playoff start.
