Does anyone have any information on the Whitmer Vs Sylvania Southview scrimmage on the 17th. Will it be the traditional soap game or will they be charging admission? Game like conditions or not? Also what time? Thanks

As you said Aug 17, 6 pm at Whitmer (originally scheduled at UT). I will check on any admission.
The soap game as it originally was...is no longer, because they are not allowed to pass out soap to the kids.

I'm missing something. Did the school hand out soap to kids at a football game? Please enlighten me.

Back in the day admission to a scrimmage was a bar of soap, the soap was then used by players, this was when athletes actually showered after practice or a game. I find it totally bizarre no one seems to shower anymore until they get home. Has to be some stinky bus rides

What no showers before leaving? I would not allow anyone in my ride back in the day if they hadn't showered. I remember the soap games and I can't be half as old as Fairwoodking. LOL

I'm as old as or maybe older than Fairwood and I've never heard of soap games. Maybe it's just for teams out in the boonies where some kids don't see much soap.

i remember the "soap scrimmages". it was a long time ago. i do not understand what the harm was in taking a bar of soap in.

There is no harm...however kids now do not share bars of soap because of mrsa and any other health issues. I am guessing that very few use bars of soap at home, they use the bottle soap.

kids today are filthy and lazy. Their idea of a shower after a game/scrimmage is to spray that axe body spray stuff all over them. I guess they think it is ok to rummage in filth for a few hours after competition, not me

Ha i cant speak for other schools but Im pretty sure at Maumee the players shower at the high school after all games and in between all 2-a-days. For away games I think they shower at Maumee unless it is more than an hour away (Massilon and playoff games). But its true nobody really uses bars of soap anymore I dont think. Although that is an interesting way to have people pay for admission ha
