Padua and Norwalk should be very dangerous teams this year, both have tons of young talent.

I would say Hartley still has Molly Shonk as well. She doesn't get the credit she deserves. She does A LOT of that team.

Molly Shonk was a terrific player all year, highly underrated and played lights-out defense as well as being a go-to player on offense.

i would agree with that...it was a shame she didn't get all state recognition.

I was at the SUA tourney two weeks ago, and let me tell you, Padua is the real deal. They were the only D2 team that made it to the gold bracket, and they finished third in a tournament loaded with D1 state powers. Take my word for it, they ARE the real deal.

netblocker, I totally agree with you, both times ! Norwalk handled Padua quite easily at the Mags Fall Showcase at the beginning of the season but towards the end of the season Padua swept Norwalk at Padua.

From what I understand Padua returns the entire squad from last season. They graduated three non starters from last year’s squad. All starters return. They play in a super scrimmage at Maverick VBC tomorrow and then head down to Dublin Coffman next weekend.

Well I was at the 8 team scrimmage today at Maverick VBC: Padua, Lake, Avon Lake, Strongsville, Gilmour, Kenston, Bishop Ready, North Royalton.

Padua again looked like the real deal and the team to beat in D2, winning all 7 matches. Gilmour looked great and looks like they are ready for a state title run again this year in D3..and they may run into Ready again who also looked very very good and like a state champion possibility. For D1, both North Royalton and Kenston also looked like very solid teams that could go deep in the tournament...and Avon Lake also looked very solid. Strongsville has a young club and will give some teams fits this year. It was 3 hours of very very good volleyball.

Iceman how did lake Catholic look, they always seem to have a good team. Maybe not good enough to deal with padua or norwalk this year.

Lake is solid and of course have Detering..she is tough to handle..they will have at least two battles with Padua this year, possibly three if they both mkake the state final which would be the third time they would possibly play based on the recently posted state brackets.

Yes the big match would be Padua/Norwalk in the Regional final at Ontario...whoever wins that match might be the favorite for the state title..but I have not seen Hartley yet this year but will next weekend at Coffman.

Like I said I still think Padua is the team to beat and would be surprised if they arent ranked first in the first state coaches poll.

Thanks for the update Iceman, should be another exciting year. I saw Padua play Norwalk and mans Madison last year and Padua looked real good last year so I imagine their going to be a force this year. That would make a great regional finals game with padua and norwalk.

Sounds like the Division 2's were going at it pretty good today. I was in central Ohio to watch Bishop Hartley, St. Francis DeSales, Dover, Wyoming, Norwalk, and (D4) Tuscarawas CC. Very good volleyball for the 11th of August.
