The Top 5 College Basketball Players That You Have Ever Seen Play -
06-01-2012, 10:14 PM
I just wanted to get some opinions of the best college players that you have ever seen. Important note, if you are 25 years old, don't say Oscar Robertson - only players that you have watched play:
I will throw out the following players to get started:
C - Bill Walton - UCLA
F - Larry Bird - Indiana State
F - Christian Laettner - Duke
G - Michael Jordan - North Carolina
G - Magic Johnson - Michigan State
I know that I have probably missed some great players - losing my memory, so help me out.

Good lists. Couldn't argue any of them.
How about Phil Ford as strictly a college player?

Glenn Robinson, Greg Oden, Calbert Cheaney, Chris Webber, Jimmy Jackson. Obviously, I liked Big Ten basketball in the 90s. My list would make a WHALE of a starting lineup. I'd throw in Mr. Versatile (Evan Turner) in as the sixth man.

3. Pete Maravich - LSU
4. Bill Walton - UCLA
5. David Thompson - NC State
Never saw him play college but a lot of people who I respect basketball-wise say Ohio St's Jerry Lucas may have been the best ever.

Bill Walton--UCLA
Pete Maravich--LSU
Magic Johnson--Michigan State

(Tie) David Thompson (NC State) and Patrick Ewing (Georgetown)
In fairness to the older players, I never saw Oscar, Russell, or Chamberlain play in college.

Since I am younger, and can't name some of the obvious legends posted above, I will just choose five players whom I saw play live.
1. Jason Williams - Duke ... The single most dominant scoring machine to play guard in college basketball since Chris Jackson, and there hasn't been anyone close since.
2. Mike Dunleavy - Duke
3. Antonio Daniels - Bowling Green ... Antonio could fly. He was The Show in the MAC. Superman in shorts.
4. Kyle Singler - Duke
5. Wally Szczerbiak - Miami (OH)
Duke Blue Devils: '91, '92, '01 & '10 National Champions

Wasn't even the best player on his team.
