I thought they might go with someone a little younger. IMO He's a little old to take over another program. Not sure his ankles will still hold up to the famous foot stomp.

Dave Potopsky is teaching at West Muskingum high school. He would be a great pick up for any school. I have been around him on and off for the past couple years in and out of the gym. Would love to have him as my assistant. Your new coach should grab him to join the coaching staff.

Best of luck to Scott. I have known him since his playing days. He will do a great job at Claymont. Looking forward to the Claymont-Meadowbrook battles this year. They will be fun.

Congrats to Coach Doak. Scott is a class act on and off the court. He knows the ECOL and the local hoops infrastructure. As a bonus, Claymont does not have to shuffle any teachers since Scott already has his job at Buckeye. IVBooster would be a great director of security..........no one messes with the Booster!

Does anyone know if Coach Doak is doing anything in the short time he has left to work with the players? From what i know/hear about him he is very dedicated, hardworking and enthusiastic so i am sure he jumped in and got something going.

Almanac, I'm pretty certain he already squeezed in a basketball camp for the younger players so i would say, YES, he is working with the players already. Probably had to wait until the formal hiring at the recent Claymont BOE meeting to really get started.

SHOE, Coach Doak had a (FREE CAMP) for ALL BOY'S to come to. I am sure that Scott will do a fine job for the Stangs. As for the security job those days are in the past. This OLD dog just stays on the porch any more! LOL

Claymont has had 6 coaches in 12 years. Why so much change? Look who has been a constent on the board Bill Grandison - They ran Bryan Watkins to bring in a first year coach in Kevin Sapara No experience- ask Ryan Delaney - superintendent- If this such a good hire why didn't delaney bring his own kids to claymont. Everyone new Sapara was going to leave us high and dry- put the blame where it belongs. The lower levels
are in shambles but these key leaders did nothing to hold anyone accountable. They will never blame themselves but all this happened on there watch.

Scott Doaks record at Indian Valley was 41-89 Good luck Scott

If we are going to start tossing numbers out lets be fair.Yes Coach Doak did not win a ton of games at IV but he was competitive. He also won a ton of games at the former Lakeland High School against very good division 3 and 4 competition. He has coached against some great coaches in Reese,Ross,Tucci,Ford,VonKaenel,Rock,Shutt to name just a few. Lakeland also had a lot of tourney success under Doak, making a few district appearances and even making it to the regional finals in the early 90s. He had some very good talent at Lakeland and not so good talent at IV. I do not know Coach Doak at all but have seen his teams play a lot over the years. I just do not think its fair to mention just SOME of his career and not the whole picture. He knows how to coach and will do fine at Claymont.Other than Riley he is by far the most experienced coach Claymont has had in a long time. Leave him alone and let him do what he knows to do and i am sure it will be a successful and fun time for Claymont hoops!

I am not saying anything negative about coach Doak. Almanac you did not have to endour any of the last years with the previous coach, he would still be here if he did not find another job. We would still have the same problems
nothing was done and we the parents and taxpayers should hold the people that are making these poor decisions accountable with they don't have kids playing. They want us to vote for them and there levy's but they treat us like they know more than us. Its time for a change at Claymont and it starts with the board and superintendent. good old boys network has to stop

Interesting"good old boys network has to stop"? What about the football hire? Is he in the good old boys network? I agree Doak was a interesting choice. Watkins should have been given a few more years in my opinion and my opinion isn't really a good one. Like they always say Claymont is a wrestling school now..

If you ran a business and changed managers 6 times in 12 years heads would roll - but its exceptable at Claymont. The problem starts at the top. It would be interesting to see how many? and who applied for the job? Who they interviewed? probably says alot that no one wants to work for a micro-manager who. What administators are the common denominater and what board members keep approving these hires by delaney. You would think he is mr. no it all in basketball. What moves are next for the god old boys -stay tuned

Claymont Grad, I understand your frustration. Unfortunately, the situation as you describe it at Claymont is about the same at every school in Ohio. BOE members have always wanted to poke their way into coaches business. In the last 20 years that has only become more prevalent. Added to that, parents now have worked their way into influential roles in sports programs. In the old days the AD's/Superintendents, etc. kept a lot of those influences at bay. That isn't the case much anymore.........the head coaches are on an island surrounded by sharks........the first sign of trouble and the sharks begin to circle. I feel that in today's environment a coach has about 2 or 3 years to work his magic. After that, they either get forced out or move on.

IMO, a coach should be hired, allowed to institute his program the way he sees fit without any outside interference from parents/BOE members, etc. As long as he's doing nothing illegal, unethical, or immoral, he should be left alone.

Why don't you run for our board - Its about time bill grandison retires and then delaney would have to answer to the board insted of running it, those two seem to be the comon denominator lately. The program -youth was heading in the wrong direction, they felt the opposite- are you kidding me!!!! I wonder would things have been different if grandison and delaneys kids played, especially delaney who always compliments are teachers but were not good enough to go to claymont - you make big money send your kids here or are we not good enough. Board stop making it easy for this guy. Community hold the board responsible.
