i guess on friday congress finally passed a transportation bill and the president signed it and this includes funds to fix our infrastructure. i guess people nationwide have been complaining about these power outages and finally the big storm in the DC area last week really got the politicians attention.

I have no problem with AEP's efforts in NW Ohio. Crews from all over the US were here to help repair/replace the power lines. They were putting in 16 hour days in 95-100 degree heat. The damage here was incredible and they did a great job getting everybody back online ASAP.

Basic maintenance has fallen way behind, most of which is tree trimming. In the Columbus suburb I live in some trees have literally grown around power lines to the point that when the trees get trimmed part of the tree is stuck on the power lines. Once every seven year routine maintenance has become more like fix it when it breaks using contractors.
