Default USA Junior Nationals in Columbus OH, June 28-July 7 - 06-28-2012, 08:28 PM

Anybody going to see this? http://usavolleyball.org/events/8349

My wife and I went this evening to watch her great-niece from California play. I'm not sure which is more impressive - the athletic play, or the way they've set up the Convention Center main exhibition hall into 20 or 30 courts. The SportCourt surfaces are pretty cool.

Sports Courts are pretty cool??? Ask those that get to play on them how there legs feel after playing on them four days. Just pure concrete underneath...not a body friendly surface. It is money friendly for those that can rent a facility and put in that many courts under one roof.

Yes, they are pretty cool, as in "I've never seen portable sports surface tiles up close before and on such a big scale". Most were generic blue, like indoor tennis courts, but some were simulated hardwood floor grain. I don't get out much, and I'm easily amazed.

You sound like a man of experience, and I'll take your word for it on the fatigue factor. However, I did take a look-and-feel up close, the tiles remind me of a Tartan track/tennis surface with some cushion, so they definitely are softer than real hardwood. Is that any worse than playing or diving on real hardwood over time?

Hopefully we'll see my wife's niece again before she leaves and I'll ask her how she fared.

Come on, wisdome. They usually throw down 1/16" thick carpet underneath the SportCourt for padding.

Like the sarcasm...the padding is for shear load puposes between the floor and the SC.

Great for the pocket...not for the players.

I have had the sport court type flooring down for 7 years and we use it year round for volleyball and have had no complaints or injuries from it. We have the pad down to soften the floor. players feel it has extra give and is easier on their bodies, but then I'm not a professional floor person so what do i know, If I have a lot of complaints I would put down a different floor

You have padding? Is it the felp or another type of padding. That makes a difference!

It's made out of rubber composite, can't tell you the thickness but it was the recommended thickness for volleyball, all I know is that a roll of it was very heavy.

I have an idea what you are talking about. It is about 1/2 thick and does a good job protecting the kids from the hard floor. Good choice and kudos to your facility!
