Default Accountability???? - 06-21-2012, 03:39 PM

Detroit man gambles away $1.5 million accidentally given by ATM

http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/sideshow...191619543.html

This quote left me scratching my head...

"Page, who does not have a prior record, could have faced a steeper sentence but prosecutors said his crime was a "lapse of judgment" and placed blame with Bank of America for allowing the withdrawals to take place."

'scuse me?????

They're blaming the Bank????

For goodness sake, when is anyone accountable for their actions?

Seriously, this guy actually thought he wasn't doing anything wrong?????

Again, the human race never ceases to disappoint me.

Accountability is not in the Detroit dictionary.

These replies pretty well sum up the reason Detroit is in the shape it is.

Well I know what I'm going to do now if a bank drops 1.5 mil in my account.

I'd deposit it into another bank and let them argue it out.12 months later, file a legal claim to 1/3 of the interest. [ that's a sure way to speed up litigation ]

He did get 15 months in jail and has been ordered to pay Bank of America back!
At a $100/mo. they should be all square in slightly over 34 years, not counting interest charges.

A much better deal than he would have gotten if ran up his credit card for that amount.

These days, personal responsibility is only an urban legend.

My main point was that they were putting blame also on the Bank

How much was he ordered to pay back...only $40,800????

He can save money that'd he'd use to start paying the bank, but instead of making payment he could go to the casino and flip the cash. Maybe he'll get lucky and pay back the 1.5 mil and also make a profit in the process. I hear that's a popular practice by gamblers, seems reasonable.
