Default Rawlngs Velo 5150 or Machine Experience - 06-16-2012, 08:17 AM

Looking for a bat for a incoming freshmen. He will be playing Fall Ball. He likes the balanced weight of the 5150 but has not hit with the bat yet. My son is now pushing 6', I am looking at a 32" bat.

Any thoughts on these bats?

I have no experience with either bat, my sons have always used Easton. But why such a short bat for a 6' player?

Well I guess I didn't think about a 33" he has used a 32" that last couple years. I thought with the added weight a 32" would be better for bat speed. He has been using a -5 Speed this year.

Now I understand using a 32" if next year as a Freshman will be his first experince transitioning to a -3.

My son swung both the Velo and the Machine by Rawlings this year. He ended up staying with the machine. The Rawlings bats are excellent and I would recommend any of the Three Rawlings 5150 models.
If they are good enough for D1 South Carolina and Kent state I would bet its a good choice for your son.
I saw more and more kids swing a 32" bat this year regardless of their physical size. Hope this helps you a little.
CNK athletic Equipment has the original 5150 in stock at a sale price right now.
