Sorry to disappoint you Lex fans, but Madison has no plans to give up their twenty year domination over Lex on the volleyball court without a fight. It will be nice to have more of a game while our young players get their feet under them though. Dont forget, several of the five graduating seniors were starters as Frosh and Sophs - and that young team won the OCC title and went deep into the post season.

BTW - Madison has not missed any Spring or Summer open gyms, etc. so the fact that Coach Bru took a little extra time before accepting the position hasn't hurt at all. Business as usual for the Rams. Picked up a very qualified new JV coach as a bonus too! Gonna be an interesting year.

Congrats to Ken Brubaker on taking the varsity job at Madison, it should definitely be a interesting year for sure!

Well vbfan, I'm sure Madison will give a effort but when you don't have he the talent not much you can do, Madison's domination of the occ is over, but I'm glad that someone finallly stepped up and took that job, good luck to him cause he will need it for sure!

We will get our first look at Madison at the Cardinal Challenge at Otterbein at the end of July. Not sure what date (7/28 or 7/29), Madison will be playing but it will be a 16 team tournament (there are two of these one-day volleyball tournaments) and Marion Local, Versailles, Olentangy Liberty, Marion Pleasant, Upper Arlington, Mansfield Madison, Adena, Hilliard Bradley, Tusky CC, Big Walnut and Gahanna Lincoln are among the teams listed by Coach Monica McDonald.

I wonder if Pickerington North will play this year since they're hosting their own summer tournament on 7/14 and 7/15, I've heard.

with all lexfan1 has put out on this topic ... they had better make a state appearance or what a disappointment it will be down in Lexington....Congrats to Coach Bru on getting the head job.. I am sure he will have them working hard to get better........

If I was coaching the team, I would show this thread to the Madison players and that will get them working hard over the summer. Seriously Madison is program not just a one or two year wonder. They will be solid again this year. Maybe not final 4 but solid as usual. IMHO.

Ramfan I'm not saying we will make a run at state especially with norwalk in our district, the only thing that would disappoint me would be losing to Madison. Madison has ruled the area for years now their at a point where their talent is gone for the most part, jenni and Haley and our tall young middles against mostly your Jv front row from last year you make the call, its not tuff. So if solid means just a average high school team then yes I'm sure your team will be solid.

I've seen your posts on football and basketball and no you don't know more than basically anyone! You also need to get hooked on phonics or something because nobody knows what your talking about. Lex, I hope your whole season and year isn't dependent on beating Madison. If so, wow! I think getting to the state tournament should be more of a goal than beating one team or even the conference.

When the dust settles, no one cares who you beat in a season or if you won a conference. All they want to see is a final four banner hanging in your gym. Anymore in high school sports, programs are determined by that, sadly enough. All programs are going to go through a year(s) of talent level drop offs, some more than others.

Round 1 of summer ball goes to Lexington at Upper Sandusky. Lexington defeated Madison in the semi and it went 3. Lexington did lose to Upper in finals in 3 Upper has an impressive front line of 3 players who run about 6'2

It was close all 3 games. It was Lexington offense vs Madison defense If I was either school I wouldn't say to much about who can beat who. Tournament time should be a hoot Remember this is only summer ball. Madison is not horrible but young with a new coach If i had to bet the house on which one is better I would say Lexington but they need to get their defense playing a lot better
