Default Dunbar puts Two in NBA Finals - 06-12-2012, 08:11 AM

Dayton Dunbar High School will show two former players in the upcoming NBA finals. Norris Cole is a backup point guard for the Heat. Dequan Cook plays the 2 for OKC. Cole played his college ball at Cleveland State. Cook played at OSU.

Still is a pretty good accomplishment for a DII school and their coach. Can we name another school that has put one in the finals in the past 10 years. Samaki from Eastmoor/Whitehall, can't remember anyone else.

IS there another high school which has two graduates playing in the NBA finals? Not sure I understand your point....certainly the college play had an influence (although some would argue that Matta actually hurt Cook more than hleped him)... but the point remains...two of the players in this NBA final played at the some inner city public high school in Dayton Ohio... and that school is Dunbar.

I believe it is a feather in the cap of the fine people at the school and the basketball program led by HC Pete Pullen.

Can't figure a reason for you(spirit545) to take issue with that.

Went to Dayton this weekend, everyone in the area is excited that Dunbar has two players in the NBA Finals. They are extremely proud of them and should be. The respective colleges definately played their parts but the impact of having two players from the same community play on this stage is tremendous. It's gonna help up-coming players work a little harder because they see reaching the top is possible. Throw in the fact that the biggest fish in the bowl (Lebron) is also from Ohio speaks volumes for the entire State.

I have no issue just wanting to be clear that these two fine players came from Dunbar but were taken into the NBA by teams who saw them play at Ohio State and Cleveland State. Neither were being looked at as NBA Finalists while at Dunbar. Matta did right with Cook to show his skills and not expose his weakness.
