What does Poland have returning this year?
We actually lost quite a bit and I think many positions are up in the air. On offense we lost our QB (Kent State) RB Lawman (Waynesburg) WR Morroco, TE Voitus (Waynesburg) LT Dibo, LG Kreatsoulas, C Bilas, RG Shriner and RT Bannon. Dibo and Shriner had opportunities at the next level but decided not to play.

As good as Lawman was we will be fine without him. Tyler Evan really came into his own and Turnbull is returning at FB. We also have some depth in the backfield, including a couple of very talented sophomores. Voitus was one hell of a good blocking TE but Hubble is returning and Markota played some varsity as a receiving TE. Machionda, Hiznay and Morucci are all returning at WR. All have very good speed. Hiznay was injured most of last year and for some reason Marchionda didn't get a whole lot of reps, even though he was probably the best receiver on the roster. The only problem we have is no height.

We did lose our whole oline but it isn't as bad as it sounds. Dibo and Shriner will be missed. Kreatsoulas was good and Bannon wasn't nearly as good as the rest. Bilas, who will be a junior, transferred to Mooney. However, I don't think it was legal and he might end up returning. Rizzo and Sesonsky (sp) were varsity caliber players last year and will be very tough. We also have a lineman who took a year off who is a big body and expect to start as well.

On the Dline we lost Voitus (DE) Jones (DE) Dibo (DT) and Genosso (DT). I think we will actually be much better at DT, which will be anchored by Shane Evan, who was our best last year. Voitus will be missed as a starter but we will still be okay there as well. We lost two of our LBs but I think this year's unit won't have much of a fall off, if any. We lost our starting two DBs as well as one safety. I think we will be much, much better on the one side and better on the other. I'm not sure we will lose anything at safety as well.

baked, looking forward to my first trip to Poland. This has become a great game between two very strong teams. Last year it was an offensive battle between two teams that have always been strong on the defense.

This year the condition of the field won't be an issue. I think that is what hurt you guys last year.It is an easy drive and I think you will enjoy the stadium. When it comes time for the game let me know if anyone is looking for places to eat.

57 days

I know that the linemen got some new toys recently. Looks like the beef is finally back in Western Stark county.

The D-line should be able to control the line of scrimmage and get in the backfield at will this season.

Can't wait for the season to start!

If you can't beat 'em join 'em, I guess.

Quite a lot of activity on here if you live at a snail's pace. I'll look again in August.

This sure seems to be the case. However, our remaining boys still have a desire to Play and Win for Poland.

Bottom line for us is we only have 4 returning starters on both sides of the ball. The upside is that many of the second team guys were very good, possibly even better than some of the starters. We aren't suppose to do much this year according to those outside our program. I know many of our kids are taking that as a personal challenge. With Marlington then you out of the gate the kids can't afford to play flat.

Do you have Canfield again this year?

Baked, Canfield was 1 year deal, but we have upgraded to D3 foe St. V in week 6.

On a side note, The Northwest Red team (Bowman, Schley, West, Grogan and Wellman) took the overall team Championship at the Shadyside Big Cat Lineman Challenge. Bowman was also named the Big Cat for winning 5 of 6 of the individual events. The other was won by Jarred Cox our Jr. center who was part of the NW White team. Another NW team Black also competed and did well for 3 Soph. and 2 Srs. that haven't played since they were freshmen.

Good luck to the Panthers with the exception of week 2.

Teams of 5 compete both as Individuals and as a team.

Individual events:
Tractor Tire Flip (40 yards)
Weighted Sled pull (40 yards)
Obstacle Course
Sand bag toss
Medicine Ball Throw

Team Events:
Bench press
Obstacle Course
Truck push
Farmers walk relay
Tug of war

Basically, it is a way for the linemen to get a work-out and be recognized for their hard work in the weight room. The boys had alot of fun and a day to build a better bond as a unit. NW sent three teams to this event and walked away 15 awards amongst the 3 teams.

On a side note, if you want parking passes or season tickets please contact me. Both are moving fast.

Can't wait for the season to get started. If Culp can pull things together at QB then we should be a threat to be reckoned with. From what I have heard he has been struggling a little bit to catch up to the speed of the game. Any updates on this?

Any other thoughts on how things are going?

Just to be sure, are the scrimmages this Saturday and next Thursday? Any others?

Well we are just 4 days away from the start of the 2012 football season. The Boys of Fall - Northwest Indians version are coming to a stadium near you for the next few Friday nights.
