Because its close to westerville, new albany, olentangy's, dublin's, hilliards, worthingtons, desales, ua. It's a great venue, built just for lacrosse, close to all the burbs, OWU is a lax environment.

Just go to a game and support the team, you'll have a blast.

I've heard their first choice was Crew Stadium but they wanted way too much $. OWU made the best offer to be the home of the Machine...thus they went there.

So...I know why they went to OWU, but in the end, if they fail due to lack of attendance it's their own fault. If they were have been located within 270 I may have purchased season tickets. Now, I may go to a game or two, but I'm not driving to Delaware more than a couple of times with $4 gas to watch a team I am mildly interested in.

Comes down to 3 things. Money, money, and .... money.

Flash and Walt have great points and most will agree with some of the concerns. But in the end, the deal closed on that OWU was the closest stadium available that was reasonably priced for the franchise, it is close in proximity to the most populated hotbeds of Central Ohio high school lacrosse, and the Machine received a percentage of the concessions......... and they were allowed to sell beer.

Crew Stadium would have been nice, great facility, but you have to wear a bullet proof vest for neighborhood protection, and drive your oldest vehicle. From what I hear from my old teammates at Ohio State, Jesse Owens Stadium was considered, since there are a lot of former OSU players on the Machine, that played lacrosse on that field. Would have been a nice fit, but the lease price was pretty steep and all concessions, at any and all Ohio State events, are controlled by that dreadful company that charges $4 for bottled water and Diet Cokes and $6 for hot dogs. Killed that idea.

So load up a van or a bus, get a designated driver, and go support the Machine in Delaware at Ohio Weslyan. On the plus side, Delaware is a great little city, inexpensive, and with a fair amount of old time bars and family restaurants. And they are glad to see 6,000+ folks on a Saturday night. Heck, that is twice the population of the university. Almost like having the Little Brown Jug crowd 6 more times a year. good business. (OK, not quite, but definitely more folks than a normal evening in town).

Hopefully Flash12 was being facetious in his statement that Selby Stadius at OWU was built just for lacrosse. It was built in 1929, long before, 36 hers or so, before lacrosse cane to OWU. Ohio lacrosse in 1929? I don't remember any teams then!!

Regardless, it is a great venue for lacrosse and I plan on attending a few contests, 'even though I do NOT live inside 270' and will have to travel further that anyone who does!

kniightshot-the turf field at OWU is lined only for lacrosse because it was donated by an ex-lacrosse player, hence, built for lacrosse.

A turf field is a turf field.......... The fans don't 'sit' on a turf field. The players can find the lines whether it has one or more sports lines on it. It is a FIELD WITH LACROSSE LINES, as many are! Maybe they can also play other sports on this field. The stadium was built for football, but I have been to more track meets there than football or lacrosse games. Have you?

Ticket prices I saw in the paper said $18-42. I live in Delaware and I am not going to attend!
