The Brickners are not out of Fostoria, they are all homegrown H-L kids

interference from parents? I don't think Kloepfer even allows interference from his asst. coaches or advice. He does demand discipline and hard work which is a good thing, but I think he has taken away to much of the fun aspect. As far as the low numbers some of that is the coaches fault. Riverdale offers 4 fall sports with approx. 160 boys in 9-12 only a little over 60 participated in all 4 sports combined,so some blame falls on the community also. After watching Riverdale during the not so GOLDEN years before Kloepfer but due to the coaches inability on the offensive side to run plays to set up other plays, instead of the attitude of I don't care if they know its coming because if we execute it properly it will work, usually with smaller sometimes out manned players. With some regret I think it is time for a change.

I don't know how many W's Holgate will have under Coach Boulton, but if you have a son in that program you could not ask for a better man to be an influence in your child's life. Great man. Best of luck.

Personally, I hope your right Loose. I would like to see Holgate be competitive again. Tough situation he's walking into.

Lakota and North Baltimore both out of the MAL. Lakota moved from the Suburban Lakes Conference to the MAL to be more competitive and have gone 1-20 in the MAL in 3 seasons, (this from a D-5 school in a D-6 league) pathetic, the last 2 seasons were not even in most games after halftime. NB until Lakota joined the MAL were the the doormat every year. They usually have a couple good athletes but as a team they are not competitive. With the anticipated move to the BVC by NB maybe they can be competitive with Vanlue, Hardin Northern and most years Arcadia but I don't see them winning more than a couple BVC games a year and no matter where Lakota ends up they won't win, again a team with some decent athletes but do not play well as a team.

I agree with a few of the others seeing Holgate competitive again would be nice...The rest of Henry county has long storied football pasts...Holgate is always know for just basketball. It would be nice to see them have some success.

It wilb be interesting to see if Coach Boulton can turn around Holgate...don't quote me on this, but I think the last time they had success was in 87 or 89. I would like to see all the Henry County teams being able to compete with the best.

Holgate went to its one and only football playoff appearance in 1984.

28 years since their last playoff appearance is more than a few years or a little while back. That is more than a generation. The majority of Holgate fans do not know what a good football team looks like and that is sad. Good luck to their new coach and staff with high hopes for a turnaround.

While I don't completely disagree with you, IMO a good coach gets the best out of his players, a great coach does the same & makes the game fun so more players want to play. Getting the asst. coaches & players to believe in your system is key! A stud athlete is definantly a plus though!

Lakota needs to find a way to bring some some MAL victories home to their nice new building!

Judging from what I've seen the past couple of years (especially last season) Lakota will not win many games this season. Their first year in the MAL (3 seasons ago) they had what I thought was a pretty good team but won only 1 League game (1-6) after going 3-0 out of conference to start the season, 2 seasons ago 0-7 and then last year 0-7. 1-20 in 3 MAL seasons, not very good for a D-5 school in a D-6 League. With the probable breakup of the MAL after the 2013 season, where will Lakota end up? Maybe the TAAC, or stuck in limbo as a independant. I think that the MAL will not be that strong this season but I doubt that Lakota will be able to take advantage of that. Seneca East returns the most talent but with their history of under achieving someone else will probably win the League. Hopewell Louden, Carey, and Tiffin Calvert all lost a lot from last season. Fremont should be improved, Mohawk probably will be a little better than last year but not yet ready to contend. That leaves Lakota and North Baltimore, NB has some talented kids but are they ready to step up and win some games for a change? we'll see. Because of past history I think that one or two teams out of Carey, Hopewell Louden and Tiffin Calvert will be the ones to step up and challenge Seneca East.
