Would you care to clarify what "rules" privates don't have to follow?

jackboy doesn't have any idea what he is talking about. he just spews misinformation about the state of private schools because it makes him feel better, even though there is no basis in fact.

Yep you're correct! I think the private school folks are upset that change is coming. Not much they can do about it.

jackboy, are you just going to ignore the fact that you posted false information? Hope that everyone forgets you are wrong and so agrees with you? Please state just one rule you think applies to public schools and harms them but does not apply to private schools. If you actually read the rules, you would see that the fact is the opposite.

No one "sits" if they don't ever attend another high school (in otherwords, the "sitting" occurs when a student attends one high school and then decides to transfer to another high school) but secondly, are you aware that if a child attends a private high school and decides to transfer back to their "home" school, they don't sit!
This is 100% true: Private to Public= No sit out
Public to private= sit out for 1 year

Not to mention that going to a private requires tuition, and sometimes transportation issues.

As someone with knowledge of private school finances, I can tell you this is nonsense. It is very rare for this to be happening. Private schools just don't have the money to be handing out full rides to students just because they are athletes. There is such a mythology about private schools held by public school advocates, it really isn't even funny.

No. My school has tuition assistance and it's based solely on income. Athletics or anything else has nothing to do with it. In fact, our tuition assistance applications are handled by an outside company and each applicant is known only as a number.

Correct. That is true of every private school I know. The process is blind. You can think whatever you want.

Yes, please prove it. Hearing this myth gets old especially when no one can back it up because if they could, they would have contacted the OHSAA and had it investigated.

Yes, and I'd love to have my taxes back that go to the public school system so that I can use them for educating my kids the way I see fit. I get to pay twice, tuition for where my kids actually get the education I feel is important and then I get to pay for the public school that I believe is an abysmal failure when it comes to education.

Do you want me to call out names and schools. In Columbus I know for a fact that if you have talent in a particular sport then the catholic schools are on you period. But unlike others It's fair game and I see nothing wrong with parents exploring all there options in re guards to there child school. But please don't come on here and say they don't let good athletes come in and get a huge and i mean huge discount like free on there fees.

If you know that this is happening and don't report it, you are part of the problem if you believe its wrong. I know of a public school coach that recruits at the local health club. The schools in the county where I live are all open enrollment. I've heard him doing it. I just laugh about it because that school constantly complains about how private schools recruit. I have kids who have excelled in academics and in sports at a private school but I can assure you that I've not received a dime of tuition assistance. And we've used a great deal of what we set aside for retirement and have to keep our cars that are over 10 years old to have the money to send them to that private school. Do you honestly think that someone like me who has just about spent their last dime wouldn't be hot under the collar if we found out that some other kid got a full ride or tuition assistance just because they were a good athlete?

Tuition assistance at a private school is based on income. I can tell you stories of how people that I know who have given all they have or gone into great debt to send their kids to private schools. How insidious for you to think that those of us who have sacrificed so much would stand by and watch while someone gets a free ride because they can shoot a basketball or throw a football/baseball.

Please get a grip.
