OSU 2012 Recruits? -
03-24-2012, 12:20 PM
How can ohio state be dead last in the BIG10 recruiting class for 2012.HOW COME THAD MATTA NOT PULLING THE RECRUITES.I know we still have a nice core returning.I would love to get a solid strong guard that can shoot & drive well.I see they have 2 leads.Theres a sg position open on next years roster. That would be very desirable to me if i was a strong guard wanting to play in a great conference and possibly help make another run in the ncaa tournament.does anybody know something I dont (probably alot)lol

Probably has something to do with having only one senior, on the roster. Buford is OSU's only senior.

Right now 1 schollie available . OSU is holding it for #1 Center prospect in the Country Tony Parker. He won't be a easy get, but OSU is very high on his list. UCLA and Memphis I think our the teams to beat. But his list changes daily. But, OSU has always remained in his Top 5 he loves Jared and they are tight.

Tony Parker seems to have cooled on the Bucks. He really wanted to come here. His Mom thinks its to cold and to far. But, UCLA and Kansas seem to have risen to the top. Which doesn't make sense based on what his families input has been.

Kidding aside about Tony Parker but has anyone else seen his highlight video? If he is one of the top recruits, this years picks must not be that good. Parker is somewhat of a clone of Sullinger but even less athletic and not the footwork. Was hoping he would be more of a Robinson from Kansas not someone with slower feet than Sullinger.

The radio (97.1 The Fan) reported that as of a few days ago, Parker is not even returning phone calls from the OSU.

Creeksider - that is correct; Duke is in the mix.

If you're a top flight recruit, tough to look at OSU right now. Pretty young team with alot of talent. Craft is the PG for the next 2 years. Thomas is probably one more year, Williams is the big man of the future and Smith is probably your 2 guard next year.
There are probably a couple guys on the Buckeye bench who wish they would have gone somewhere else.

^Nice try at influencing potentials towards Indiana, but the history of how Matta uses recruits shows how much of a lie that is! If the kid can play and beat out a starter, even Craft or Thomas, he'll play.

what about this walker kid.supposed to be a 5 star. The buckeye page has high hopes hes coming on campus.you think with sullinger leaving that a star center player would want to come to ohio state.(making the final four)Besides that ohio state gets plenty of t.v time.Matta and the team will make the big man coming in better and ready for the nma.Sullinger needed another year before he left in my opinion.give me some feed back.im just a humble fan

I think Williams will be huge next year. Hope they work him hard with more post moves and he has gotten bigger and stronger through the season. He is a huge presence inside and will be a shot blocker. Unlike Sullinger who couldn't get off his feet and IMO will struggle in the NBA.
Matta not playing people off the bench has gotta be a big deterrent for future recruits. Knowing if they don't make the starting 5 they may sit the bench most of the season. Kinda of a bad recipe.
Williams sitting as much as he did and then being thrown in the mix at the end of the season had to be stressful for him. Knowing the talent you have may have been a problem for Matta. Playing Ravenell before Williams off the bench was a mistake I thought.

I thought Ravenell was more of a football player than a basketball player.but i agree williams was better and would have been even great if given more playing time throughout the season.I seen baylor was put on probation for 3 years doesnt that give a baylor player the right to go to another school. Not sure on the ruling.I just know that there was alot of talent on that team

Looks like Parker's ship has sailed. Buckeyes hoping to get Rodney Hood former teammate of LaQ Ross to visit soon. He is considering transfering from Miss. State. 6'9 forward with very good skills avg. 10pt and 5rebs as a frosh starter this year. Decent shot blocker also.

Watched Parker play in an all-star game Saturday-Fat, Lazy, Out of shape, unskilled. They were comparing him to Sullinger, I don't see it. Jared was fat and out of shape but always had more basketball skills and intelligence than Parker. Maybe Coach K can get him in shape but you can't cure slow and unathletic. There has got to be better big men out there than this guy. At only 6'8" (and I doubt that) I don't se him playing center at Duke or any other big time school and with his lack of skill and mobility he can't play anywhere else.

Gerogia not Duke is rumored by his close sources to be the one to beat.
Buckeyes have a recruit scheduled to visit this week from Findlay prep out of Las Vegas. Mid week visit. SG from Italy . Chances are slim he picks the Buckeyes as his GF goes to Texas AM and Thad got in on him late. You never know though at least he got him on campus.
Looks like they bank the 2 schollies and hit 2013/2014 hard. With Ravenel and Thomas leaving next year and Siebert and Weatherspoon transfering that gives Bucks 6 scholarships for those 2 classes.
