Game Two
Faix, Brown, and Lundy save the day in extra inning thriller
Romans and Frye also contribute offensively in nail biter
April 2, 2011 -- The Walsh Jesuit Varsity Baseball Team secured the sweep in Game Two of a double header against Toledo Central Catholic by a score of 4-3 in an extra inning thriller. The back-and-forth game saw WJ behind by a run and needing a stop in the 5th, and Senior lefthander Tim Faix sparkled. The lefty Kent State recruit came on and promptly threw two perfect innings of relief, striking out three of the six batters he faced as the WJ Nine tied the game in the bottom of the sixth as Senior Nate Lundy singled and came around to eventually score on a sacrifice fly by Junior Drew Miletti. Coming on to pitch and earn his first Warrior pitching win was Sophomore Cassidy Brown, who battled extremely well after catching so many innings on the day, striking out three in his two innings of work, allowing only a single baserunner. Senior Nate Lundy celebrated his birthday in fine fashion with a leadoff double to begin the eighth, advancing to third on a single by Junior Graeme Frye and eventually scoring the walk-off run for the victory. Also hitting well in the second game was again Freshman Nate Romans and Cassidy Brown.
With the win, the Maroon and Gold improve to 3-0 on the young season.
