How about the North student section booing the Central band when they entered the field for pregame and halftime? Give me a break. North has ran their mouths as much as anyone and they were shown on Friday what a team has to do to back that talk up. North may have the money (as they have stated in the past), but Central rules the footbal kingdom. GO TIGERS!!!!
Pick a team huh? I think not. I'll support both teams if you don't mind. I wasn't aware that I had to get your approval to do so.

And as I was saying on another thread.... a friend of mine who was at the game told me that Davidson was calling time outs at the end of the first half while leading 42-0, and eventually scored a TD to go up 49-0 as the half expired.

Because I did not witness it myself I will not pass it along as fact like some others on the Huddle do when they "hear" things that occur when they weren't there to actually see the incidents of which they speak.

Also, know that I'm not pointing it out to bash Davidson because I have a ton of respect for their program....and honestly I don't really have a big problem getting as many as you can in the first half.

However, if that were Pick Central, Walking Boss would be all over this.

Actually North is better than Central at many other sports and makes sure Central knows it.......but to be honest in Central Ohio football is the sport that counts!!!!!!!

I understand those programs which surrendered those points may not be at the top of their game. The Tiger Varsity put up 35 on a good team and the JV team put one in by keeping it on the ground.

I think that comparison is a little harsh. We have some talkers but not to that degree.

I know you were just debating a previous post but that analogy is over the top.
Coke: You can correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think you'll find a single reference in ANY post I have made about Pick Central in which I EVER made reference to running up the score. The closest i can recall was a reference to the fake punt attempt last year late in the game against Darby. I don't know if it did or didn't even lead to a score. To me, it doesn't matter. All I know is it was bush league. I believed so then, I believe so now, and nothing anyone can tell me would have lead me to conclude differently. I'll stand corrected if you can find one, but that has generally not been one of my complaints about Pick Central, of which I have several.

I will concede that I personally would not want to be compared to the Hurricanes, but a comparison to Ohio State is absurd.

Walt: I guess that is supposed to be a shot across my bow, or something. Point me to something that I have passed along as a "fact" on this board that is not indeed a "fact". Until then, I caution you to not make "strawman arguments", in which you misstate someone's position in order to make it easier to attack. That was a common tactic of 1Kitty. It cheapens the debate, and makes the user look small. Just sayin.....

Actually, it was intended for several people who have gone on long tangents about incidents that they did not actually witness, but instead read about on the Huddle. Sometimes seeing an incident occur live and in context changes your perception of the incident or situation.

And it was CYA because I didn't actually see it and I'm relying on the account of a fan. It may not have occurred so I don't want to be accused of making things up.

You don't need my approval. Just quit your whining about the score. It is kind of hard to support both when they play each other.

Yeah, for one week of the season. I was at Central when the schools split, and ended up at North. I pull for North when they play since it's where I graduated from, but I root for Central every other week.

Coke: My apologies for being flip. You have always been respectful in the past when we have disagreed, and you didn't deserve a flip response from me.

I do think that comparison to Ohio State is silly because the anti-Buckeyeism and anti-PCism is totally different. In my experience, most anti-OSU people are that way because they are either locals who are just contrarian (wear the Maise and Blue just to be irritating) or if they are outsiders they think that OSU is overrated and choke in the big game (0-3 in the last 3 BCS outings) and only won in '02 due to a bogus PI call (Luck-Eyes). I think VERY few are anti-OSU because they are too successful Otherwise there would be more anti-Florida, Texas, or USC people and their simply aren't.

I think the intent of the poster that made the Ohio State comparison was that they are super successful and, like PC, people are jealous or want to find a pimple on Miss America. I offered the Davidson and DeSales examples because they are two teams that have been more successful (in terms of what really matters --- ChampionshipS) and don't attract the same negativity. I think it is easy to dismiss criticism as "jealousy", but upon more introspection, that simply doesn't hold water. While a comparison to "The U" might have been a bit of an exageration, I do think it was more accurate than a comparison to OSU.

Again, my apologies for being flip.

I also actively support BOTH schools (son played at PC) and daughter at North. Now that both have graduated I typically root for whichever team i think will progress further. I was in Indy for the PC-Plainfield game and I would have been there for PN if they were highly ranked and had played there. I probably would feel a bit differently if I had more of a "dog in the fight." PC does play w/ a confidence that I wish would rub off on PN. There is no way PC is really 42 points better. In fact, it would not shock me if PN ran the table from here on out to finish 7-3.

I will give you that about the score but I thought you mentioned those other programs along that line. We debated the punt thing last season and won't bring up the poor decision by a sophmore on the field again.

Your opinions are your own.

By the way, I saw a Tiger Football player help a little old lady at church today, does that sway the pollsters?

No Worries. If for anything, your stance has been consistent. I think we will always agree to disagree on certain points.

As a college friend put it, Columbus Native from Grandview who supports the team up North put it, if you live here, it is all you hear, OSU OSU OSU. That was before the media age we have today. Admittedly, he was a contrarian.
In 87 our small college team qualified for D3 NCAA playoffs and started to get the attention of local media, the week of the Michigan game no less. Then they fired Earle Bruce and the attention went away like a fart in the wind. So I know what that is like.

The Tigers are working towards a Championship. I hope they get the first one soon. Every facet of the game is required to get one.
