The Crusaders, like many small private schools, are forced to play "up" just to fill out a schedule. Except for a few teams it appears SCCHS will be playing schools with higher enrollments.

This should prepare them for the playoffs if they have a decent season.

A schedule full of wv class a and aa,as well as div.5 and 6 is hardly playing up.

As near as I can tell just about every school on the schedule is bigger than Central, which is DVI.

Bellaire, Columbiana and Barnsville are all Division V schools. Weirton's enrollment would place them at DIV if they were located in Ohio and New Martinsville would be another DV. Even fellow DVI Toronto has more students.

Yeah, they're playing up.

merchant,
I'm not sure where your from, but most of the teams on the schedule would not have played us 5 years ago. This is a very light schedule and is exactly what we need at this time.

I agree I think they should be 8-2 or better with that schedule I think they will have to do that to make the play offs but maybe those new divisions will help them. I hope they have some kind of running game this year to compliment the passing game.

The fullback will be faster so that should help. New people in the slot should be Jones and Fletcher, and both of them can run. Outside will be Carapellotti and Herrington returning from last year. Both have good hands and the tall kid is a matchup problem for most teams. Line will be bigger and stronger for sure but will be a little young in a few spots. Couple of solid seniors there who have experience. They should put up plenty of points but the defense has to get better. LB's and DB's made too many tackles last year, alot of them from behind. The D line has to step up and play much better this year. Some new faces on D have decent size so hopefully they will develop as the year goes on. Schedule is much more reasonable this year. Columbiana and Magnolia will be tough and Madonna is Madonna. Time for the boys in Blue to win a few close ones. The end of last year was promising as they played a few playoff teams to the final horn.

Scrimmages are Aug 11th @ Bridgeport and Aug 17th at home vs Union Local.

Season Tickets will be on sale around the first week of August (give or take). Meet the team should be Aug 15th if I'm not mistaken.

BTW Bellaire is a home game.

I look for this year to be another step forward. The overwhelming majority of the kids know what kind of offense they're in now and we have a 2 year starter coming back at QB with a faster backfield and some weapons to throw to, always a plus. As was said, defense needs to step it up and make more plays in the backfield which would help immenselty. Its not as if they don't know this already but they have to handle their business and get the job done. We're going to miss Fallon a ton this year though, he was a stud. Wish he'd played in the system longer.

PS Can't wait to see ya 4Cards.

PPS--If any CCHS fans are interested, Boosters meet every 2nd and 4th Wed at 7:30 in the school cafeteria. No charge/dues, just need more helping hands to help take care of the teams. Hope to see a few new faces if anyone has an hour (or less) twice a month.

Equalizer, do you know if Wellsville is scheduled for that Aug 11th scrimmage too? I know MTEERFAN said Wellsville was part of a scrimmage with SCC and Bridgeport, but I just wanted to get confirmation. And you don't happen to have what time it is do you? Thanks!!!

All I know is that Steve said we're at Bridgeport on a Sat and UL at home the following Friday. He didn't say if it was a tri-scrimmage or not.

I assume both scrimages start at 10 am.
