Mid Ohio Athletic Conference Football 2012 -
03-12-2012, 11:45 AM
I havent heard any talk about the MOAC yet this year with the exception of all the changes to the league. I know it's somewhat early, but if your team doesn't at least have an idea of who it is at this point, it may already be too late. So whats the word?

BV will be improved once again, but still not at the upper echelon of the MOAC as a whole: Pleasant in the Blue and NU in the Red. After that, BV and RV will compete in the Red and MG and Cardington will compete in the Blue. Highland should be better than last year, and Elgin will also be improved as well in the Red. Both Northmor and Ridgedale will bring up the rear once again in the Blue. It all changes, however, come 2013.

North Union will once again be loaded, look for them to win the red. I would expect Highland to be improved but still struggle a bit as they are young. They do have an 8th grade class coming in that went 8-0 last year. Mt. Gilead I am pretty sure is graduating some good talent.
Everyone better get their kicks in this year because with the reallignment next year Jonathan Alder will be tough to handle.

I heard that Ridgedale will not be playing a varsity football schedule in 2012. That really screws the rest of the league who now has to pick up a tenth game at this point of the year.

Don't know where you heard this from, but not true. They will be playing a varsity schedule.

One of the MOAC schools informed us on Monday that they were looking for a game because Ridgedale had cancelled and will only be playing a junior varsity schedule.

Heard it from two very reliable sources. Both said they recieved emails from Ridgedale stating they would only be playing a JV schedule. Both folks were scrambling to come up with a 10th game.

How many kids will Ridgedale have out? It's all in perspective silveraider, if you're looking for playoff points, it's probably a good thing that a team can schedule someone else. That might be a little tricky though.

I totally agree unederlights...I guess my point is they insist on being a part of the league for the next two years but cant field teams. They should get the heck out now. I guess their not looking forward to being the doormat of the NCC or Northern 10 or whatever they are.
It is really tough at this point of the year to pick up that 10th game without traveling over 100 miles or so. But I do agree...they really haven't put up a game against many league teams for a few years now. It is not losing them that matters....its losing that tenth game.

Again you guys are wrong. Might be looking to schedule a jv game with you but they will be having a varsity football team next fall. I double checked with my source and again he said they will be playing varsity football in the fall.

I see where you're coming from. It's sad to see a once proud program fall so far. On another note, what do you think about the new league set up. I was in Upper Sandusky a week or two ago and they seem excited about it.

Would it be better for their kids if they didnt field a varsity team and just played a JV schedule?

They are fielding a JV baseball team only but I heard two ADs were looking for a 10th football game because they got info that Ridgeale was going JV only.
However, upon furhter review...after contacting more scholarly sources, It appears that buckeyecavs is correct. Ridgedale will be fielding a Friday night team after all.

If you can only field one team for a sport, always make it a varsity team, despite the low numbers and the low levels of experience. Even if you don't compete well that year, if you can keep them all together, they will get better over time. Unfortunately, competitive for some schools is winning a few games versus being winless. Again, after 2012, Ridgedale will be gone anyways.

If you have problems that stem from an online discussion board you may need to reevaluate a few things in your life. (I didnt uses the words "you" and "your" to direct the statement at you mpmbv, just to indicate any person in general).

No Problems at All -

Just to clarify my statement, I did not intend for the words "you" or "your" to be directed at any one individual nor program. Just speaking in general terms, and just my two cent opinion on the matter, that's all. Though I am always a fan of varsity sports, I would respect and understand utilizing the JV level for sports like football. Nothing personal with my previous statement.

It wouldnt surprise me at any time to see Ridgedale shut down their football program.
The Blue is so bad that Pleasant will win the division by default.
I dont know if any other team without looking gets hit as hard as Pleasant by graduation.
On offense, Rosebrough and McDaniel will have to carry the load.
The lose all but one of the offensive line from last year.
Things will be more difficult this year for them, but the rest of the Blue will be bad enough to where that wont matter.

I'm not sure I agree with you Red Saul. Pleasant has talent coming up this year that wil keep them going in the right direction.

2012 season -
08-12-2012, 09:57 AM
It seems the only MOAC talk is, Pleasant losing a bunch of kids, Ridgedale not having enough kids and Jon Alder going to dominate starting next year. ( We'll see ) What about the rest of the teams ? Any feelings / opinions ?
