Default Rosecrans fans and players - 01-01-2012, 07:23 PM

What is going on with the Bishops? There have been numerous reports of cheap/dirty play by the Bishops in both football, and now basketball. Their game this past Friday with Claymont was the latest example. The following is an excerpt from Saturday's Times Reporter:

"Two Rosecrans fans were tossed from the gym for berating officials and police and Claymont school officials were busy after the game calming several Rosecrans fans who took their frustrations to the parking lot."

So much for good Christian values.

You're an idiot. Since when did actions of individuals reflect upon their faith?

Since forever. If in a particular faith there is no obligation to attempt to live one's life by its professed moral values, that doesn't seem like much of a contract. I would think that god would be asking for more, otherwise what's the point?

The Rosecrans fans caused problems last year when they played @ Claymont, then a group of parents went to a resturant and one of the players parents dined and dashed!! Real classy!!

Years ago our school played Rosecrans in a girl's regional championship game at Lancaster HS. We had a nut of a fan who picked up a school flag and ran a lap around the gym. As he began lap 2, two Rosecrans football players (this was learned later) jumped from the bleachers, clotheslined the flag bearer, and broke his neck. Yes the kid was an idiot for running with the flag, but, it was quite disturbing to see someone get clotheslined by the opposing teams' fans. I'll be honest, I never trusted too many fans of Rosecrans after that incident which later became of court case.

Every school has a few bad seeds. I can't tell you how many times I've gone to football games at public schools in southern Ohio where I've been told "f you" by inconsiderate and overweight fans of that school for getting the last slice of pizza or because I park in "their" parking space. Give me a break.

I hate to speak for Bigben but I take it he is saying that football coach also behaves this way and so the parents and players being like that is a reflection of him. He is not saying it doesn't happen with basketball as well, although I must say we played Rosecrans last year when I was at Fisher Catholic and Coach Rock and the Rosecrans players and fans were great.

Went to the 8th grade bball championship game last year between Rosecrans and Dover. I was stunned by the Rosecrans fan behavior, including chasing their own coach into locker room at halftime. I guess they feel because they pay tuition, they can act however they want in public.

Curious that only 3 of the members of that 8th grade team are still at the school playing basketball. I was told two of them were tossed out of school.

Behavior like this from athletes/fans any faith based school is not acceptable. As a coach at a christian school, I hold my players and parents to a higher expctation of behavior.

Like it or not, the rest of the world hold us to a high standard because of our affiliation. I don't think most administrators and coaches do a good enough job of relating this to their schools.

It's sad to see these selfish parents and fans taking attention away from the team, they are a very good team!! As a parent of an athlete i never want to let bad behavior in the stands overshadow my son and his teammates performance, they work too hard and deserve better!! The Rosecrans parents and fans need to show some class and respect the team!!!

There was no dirty play during the game by either team. Hard fought game by both teams, won by the Mustangs. When three of the Bishops starters where fouled out, one of the Bishops' fans was apparently too vocal in his displeasure at one of the officials and was ejected. Shortly thereafter, his father was also ejected. No excuses. It should not have happened. Saw absolutely nothing thereafter in the parking lot.
The actions of a few should not reflect on the team, the school or the rest of the fan base.

It does happen everywhere, but schools need to take a stand so that type of behavior does not become acceptable. An example is the "wall huggers" you see at a lot of gyms......you know the types......standing at the end of the gym and yelling in the refs' ears. IMO, everyone should have to be in a seat unless they're going to the restroom or concession stand.

I would hope that Rosecrans (and other schools) has a policy of a 2-game suspension from home games for the adult(s) who get tossed.

i have no issue with people yelling at a ref for a bad call but when it comes to swearing at him that is way to far

I go to a lot of games just to watch. It is amazing to see how people yell at every call and non call. No matter how blatant fans of the offending team scream about what a bad call it was.

I know of 3 incidents in the area where there have been some combination of arrests, threats, or ejections. Seems to me that folks are more testy than usual. I'm no psychologist but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express this summer, and I think the song is right - well 2/3 right - God is great, beer is good, and people are bat sheet CRAZY!
