2012 Looking ahead (how do you think your team will do) -
12-04-2011, 12:00 PM
I see Newark Catholic playing for the state title. If all of their guys who played last season(jr's and soph's) come back and with the help of the freshman class(who will now be soph's)this team should be a major force, especially when playing D-6 teams.
These are just my thoughts on N.C. and the mean nothing in the real world.
I look for Chayce(THE PROJECT)Crouch to be a force at QB or Tight end.At 6-4 200(listed)he has all the tools to be a force and he will be as big as a force on defense
Ryan(The Surgeon)Fitzgerald will be on the field some where. The dude can flat out play QB and has some soft hands so he can catch the ball and he has speed to burn. I am guessing he will be in the defensive back field.
Anthony (The Play Maker)Wing Has all the tools to be big time on offense and even bigger on special teams.
Brian (Quiet Storm) Schumaker might be one of the best fullbacks in the county and if he hits the weight room and adds 15 pounds, he will could be unstoppable in the short yardage game.
I would say he could do as much on defense too.
Kevin(Lightsout)Bourne-Should have a great senior season and I am going to say he has the chance of earning some big honors on the D-Side of things.
Brent(ALPHA MALE)Benner-If he can find the time to hit the weights has hard as possible and decides to play the way I think he can, he could be one of the best linemen in this area.
Spencer(General)Magers-I.M.O. he has the talent to be a big time player on the D-Side of things and a solid player on the OFF side of the ball. I think he is another player that needs to increase the weight room side of things to live up to his potential.

It would be odd that I would know that, but I don't. I made them up as I have in the past. I do not know any of the players on the team nor do I know anyone who goes there.

Johnstown will still be in the MBC next year 14svt. There is still a lot of underclassmen talent at Johnstown. You have juniors like Sadinsky, Carter, Sayer, Almendinger and Thompson, etc...and the freshman class has some good players coming up. I'm not all that familiar with the sophomore class or how the JV did this year, but I think they played some freshman on that squad. I think even Farley saw quite a bit of varsity time this year as a freshman.
I have no idea who will take Ross Franklin's place. Those are going to be some mighty big cleats to fill, that's for sure. Now would be an excellent time for Johnstown to balance themselves out with their passing game. I think Sadinksy would make an awesome receiver, as he has caught some great passes and interceptions this past season. (Sorry, I know 57chevy does not agree with me), but being so one-dimensional does hurt most teams. Johnstown was in that game with Norwayne until midway thru the 3rd quarter and then they just couldn't adjust to their passing game, (which was actually a defensive issue). I love the smashmouth power run football that the Johnnies play, but you HAVE to be able to pass when needed and I don't think Johnstown does it enough to have it be successful when they need it to be, but that's just my opinion.
GOOD LUCK IN 2012 JOHNSTOWN!!! I'll be there to support you!

I do not undestand why Johnstown did not pass to the running back on screens and quick hits last year . Thats one way to help your team when you have no passing game. Yes I realize they were keying on Franklin last year. You have to find other ways to get your stud the ball other than hand off when they stack the box. Carter is one of the best coaches in Central Ohio.I also agree with the statement about secondary. Thats where they lost their regional game last year. You will have that at that level of tournament.Lets hope they (coaches) learned a few things.

When did they need the screen game? No one stopped them all season. Secondary played out of character last game of season... but the way jtown plays pressure on Qb is a must. Give credit to Norwayne their coaches did a great job and took what jtown gave them. 3rd quarter was a huge letdown by players and coaches and I m sure they all feel that way. Offensive and defensively philosophy sound, just need to execute on big stage. Hopefully all the upandcoming players get the chance to play in big games every year! Go Johnnies!

For the Central Ohio big school, I think we are not going to get a good idea of how things are going to go until we see how the Westerville situation plays itself out. That could be huge. A player transferring here or there will be big, players 'bundling' could be a game changer.
For instance, I think Dublin Coffman will be better next year than they were in '10 or '11. But if they were to get someone like a Gary Brown from Westerville South, they could become very dangerous.

It's only 23 miles to Pastaskala do you think anyof the westerville players might look in that direction?
As bad as Watkins was last season they might have a better chance to start.
Heights was another bad team that was predicted to do very well.

Hartley will be the best small school in central ohio by far. Should be interesting to see how they do adding Watterson to the schedule, and possibly filling in their bye week with an OCC school.( I believe that is only if Westerville schools go down for next year)

Upper Arlington will be 15-0 and win it all.....
Now, back to reality..... Much will depend on how things go in the weight room, etc., but I feel confident is saying the Bears "could" go 9-1, maybe 8-2 as long as everyone stays healthy. That's a tall order as injuries to key personnel have hurt UA for the past 8 or 9 years running. The Moose is concerned with an upcoming levy on the ballot in 2012. Not too sure the taxpayers are gonna swallow this one.
Upper Arlington: Home of the Golden Bears and 126 State Titles.

Moose: That's impossible...because this is Lancaster's year. They don't get near enough respect, but this is the year they put it all together and take the whole thing.

Pardon me..... all to ....... If that's the case, Lancaster would never get past UA in the playoffs. They choke every time they have to play the Bears.

C'mon Moose, the last time we played we lost in OT, hardly a choke job.
Anyhow, we have 15 guys benching 450 that also run a 4.4. Typical verticals are 36-42". We have 5-6 guys going D1. Some key players from westerville have visited and may move to lancaster. Urban Meyer has been to the school3-4 times already. Go Gales!!
In reality, the numbers are going up, about 45 kids in each of the 7,8 & 9th grade class. How that spreads in talent, we'll see. Based on what I saw we have another QB in the pipeline who is somewhere between Flowers/Stoughton when they were 8th graders. We'll have big lineman again and fast little guys. But, until we can beat central, it won't matter. We'll be better and at best can hope to limp into the 8th playoff spot at 7-3.

Coldwater returns 15 starters. The Senior class will be on an absolute mission.

It certainly looks like it could be another great season for our Cavs in 2012.

Gahanna will be in the running for a second straight playoff appearence. They have good group coming back in the right positions. Remember, the OCC Ohio Player of the Year Tyler Grassman was the second string QB at the start of the season. And also the starting RB that was lost for the season, will be back for his senior year. It is amazing what this team accomplish this year with all of the injuries.

KING: I noticed in the program that there were a huge number of '10's and 11's, they seemed to far outnumber the seniors. It did seem though, if I recall correctly, that the O-line was heavily weighted with seniors. Is that a fair assessment and, if so, what does the pipeline for the o-line look like?

Probably the best since Coach Snoad has been at Lincoln. Very deep and young, but really good size.
