Findlay was a power while in the NAIA, winning a couple national titles. The identity of the college was forged by the football program up until the switch to D-II, at which time they have essentially hung the football program out to dry. The main observation I have made is that they are still recruiting too many kids like the NAIA days. I know some other college coaches that are of the opinion that they recruit too many D-III type players based on the fact that some the kids the D-III schools are recruiting are being recruited by UofF as well. They need a different type of player than ONU, Bluffton, Defiance, etc. It's my understanding that they tried to bridge the gap by stocking up on transfers which can be a mixed blessing. You will certainly get some fine players, but you also run the risk of winding up with some other program's problem children as well.
