Default Newark Catholic at Hebron Lakewood - 09-15-2010, 07:46 AM

I think the Green Wave could win this one by 40 or more but I doubt they will allow the score to be that bad so I am goiung with Newark Catholic 28-0.

This may be close for a quarter or two but NC will probably hold back in the 2nd half because they have Heath next week. NC by 17.

I’m just asking to make conversation not trying to be critical of how things are done.
Does anyone think holding back against Fisher and like they most likely will against Lakewood will come back to bite this team in the butt when they face teams like Valley, Heath and Granville?

It is a tough call. Do they stay sharp and risk injury. Do they win by 60 and get critizied for running up the score. The good thing is I believe Lakewood is a little better this year, they are just so far behind the better teams in the league they still have tons of work to do.

I hope that the 2nd team gets to play a lot of the 2nd half and they actually run the offense.

Three runs and a punt really does not do much.

neither does running the offense against a group that isn't as good as you face in practice...

NC will be fine

they have 6 tough games after his week and probably a long playoff run... so

Not trying to argue but I disagree.
By allowing the 2nd team run the offense it helps with their timing, it allows the O-Line to actually get game experience in more then run blocking where the opposing team has eight and nine in the box because they know a run up the gut is coming. It also allows the 2nd team to get confidence going three and out 99% of the time at some point will take a toll on them.

If they can get out the gate early, it's Newark Catholic's ball game.

Lakewood is not as bad as one might think. NC should win, but I can see it going either way being close or in the book early.

I guess two blow out defeats were a fluke?

Close meaning a few scores or it could be 50 to 6, just depends on which Lakewood shows up. Didn't say they were a fluke, but I definitely would not put NC even close to Sheridan and by bias I think the Johnnies would handle NC, but it would be a great game. So I would say Lakewood could hang for a while if it's not over in the 1st quarter.

well Lakewood is much better than FC so it won't be a "name your score" like last week...
but NC will not have too much trouble

Lakewood is definitely better than FC. I wish NC would drop them from the schedule. The only team they'll beat this season is Millersport.

I guess since Johnstown doesn't play in NC's league you can speculate all you want on that. Much like the kids from NY being tougher because of where they were from. I think NC could name the score but Bill Franks won't do that. Since my kids go to Lakewood I have seen the 2nd and 3rd game and while improved they still have a long way to go.

I don't know if I said they were tougher... I just said that the style of play of a NY team is a little rough-neck and not finesse. Maybe I didn't articulate it very well. NY is not always a very disciplined team, they rely on aggressiveness and solid players around a few very good athletes every year. I think it showed with a 9-0 lead and then the NC coaches made adjustments and pulled it out. I didn't say NY would "dominate". Looking forward to next season. I would like to see NC schedule Johnstown, it would be a great game. All I know is they don't want to schedule our freshmen anymore. For a few years there were some great games, with Jtown winning more than they lost.

they are def the better team...
but not in a "name the score" way

at least Lakewood has the better band!

N.C. could win this one 50 to 6 or 7 if not worse if coach would let them play for all four quarters.
