  • National Guard JJHuddle Ohio HS Boys Basketball Ohio Team of the Year: Vote Now!

    JJHuddle is proud to announce that the Ohio National Guard will again sponsor ONG JJHuddle Player and Team of the Year awards in Boys and Girls Basketball for the 2015-2016 school year.

    Starting today we will begin voting for the Girls Basketball Team of the Year Award. The Winner will be decided by a fan-generated vote on JJHuddle.

    The winner will receive a personalized award (trophy) from the National Guard.

    How it works?
    Vote for your favorite Finalist below as many times as you like. Voting will run from now until noon on April 13.

    2016 NOMINEES


    *Westerville South
    The Wildcats won the programís first state title with a 57-55 win over previously unbeaten Lima Senior in the D-I final. Beat Garfield Heights 87-78 in state semifinals.

    *Cornerstone Christian
    Despite entering the postseason 9-12, the Patriots became the first team since 1941 to win the state title with just 17 wins. CC was 8-0 in the tourney. The Patriots beat unanimous No. 1 Lincolnview 72-54 in the final. They beat Wellington School

    *John Glenn
    The Muskies finished the season undefeated against Ohio competition and beat Akron SVSM for a second time 76-72 in the D-II final to win the schoolís first state title. JG shot 16-of-32 from 3 and made 38 FTs in its two state games.

    *Wilmington
    Despite being one of the smallest DI schools in the state (342 boys/cutoff is 340), the Hurricane advanced to the programís first state tournament since 1927 by winning their first regional title. Wilmington beat Mason, which has 1,350 boys, 63-38 for a district title. They also beat Centerville (1,071 boys) in the regional finals and Moeller (672) in the regional semis.

    *Lima Central Catholic
    The Thunderbirds advanced to their third straight state final and won the programís third state title (all since 2010) with a 66-44 win over Cleveland VASJ in D-III.

    *Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary
    The Irish advanced to their eighth state final in 17 years with an 85-68 D-II semifinal win over Aiken. Finished runner-up to John Glenn (lost 76-72).

    *Cleveland Villa Angela-St. Joseph
    Vikings advanced to fourth straight state final and finished runner-up in D-III. VASJ had to replace all five starters this season but managed to find its way back to the programís 15th Final Four.

    *Lincolnview
    The Lancers won the programís first district and regional titles in 19 years and finished state runner-up in D-IV. Were No. 1 in both JJHuddle and AP final state polls. Finished 27-2 with two losses coming to state champions: D-IV Cornerstone Christian and D-III Lima Central Catholic.

    *Mason
    The Comets had a season to remember. After starting 0-1, Mason ripped off a school record 22 straight wins to secure the programís first outright GMC title. The Comets also won the programís second sectional title since 1994 and earned head coach Greg Richardsí career win No. 300.

    *Lima Perry
    The Commodores advanced to the schoolís first district final in 13 years and won the programís first district championship with a pair of wins over MAC schools in D-IV. Perry beat Fort Recovery in the regional semis (hit 10 3s) and St. Henry in the final. The Commodores finished the season 22-4 (school record for wins) and won the NWCC title.
