The Reds need to win games against teams like Arizona. This is where you theoretically can pick up ground on those teams ahead of you. You have to win the games against teams below you.

Kind of a critical outing today for Alfredo Simon. He was very good in the first half of the season. But he's started the second half of the season with two lousy outings. Some have been concerned about...

Ah, so you just went on an uninformed, hate-filled rant instead of actually taking the time to educate yourself on the facts first. Yeah, that sounds about right.

    Maybe you can take over...

  • Federal Government shutdown!

In just a couple of days our govt. is about to shut down and no one on here is talking about it. Silents will not make it go away or not happen, Seems like the house is now trying to delay Obamacare for one year and the senate says no.way they will pass that. This is where we seem to be and once again no real negotiations by either side. Just my way or the highway.

If the conservatives want to push this, I'm all for it. (Not for shutting down the government because it hurts the people who need the most assistance), but rather because actions like this will further alienate the conservatives from the majority. Hopefully their idiotic lemming type adherence to their "leaders" ridiculous lock-step anti everything Obama agenda will aqain prove terribly unpopular around election time and will lead to a resounding no confidence vote against these arbitrary, intransient, and harmful policies that see every person, not as a human being with needs that should be addressed, but rather as objects that don't really deserve any help because by God, we will have a balanced budget come h%@ or high water. It doesn't bother any of them that there are millions out there that will have health insurance if this Obama Care movement is passed in it's entirety, but if it is recalled, the nation will be back to where the conservatives want it....right around 1860..and as the majority of this country continues to march relentlessly toward a time where the minorities will soon become the majority, the conservatives don't have much time left to grab back their former power....in fact, their time has probably already run out.

The defense contractors WILL get paid and that's what is important. It is imperative that we keep our priorities in line. The conservatives vote rank & file but despise anyone else doing the same. This whole scene is resembling 2 ninety-old Russians playing chess. By the time they wake up , only the media will know whose move it is.

The media will, true to form, lie and slander the other so that the viewers will only see one side. Their readers will buy the illusion.

Unless the other party is in power. Somehow , sensationalism has taken the place of complete fact reporting and Fox isn't exempt. Conservatives have demonized anything and everything this president has done or attempted to do.......and I APPLAUD the media for taking the counterpoint. The American people spoke.....not once , but twice as to where we should be headed. This isn't saying Republicans are wrong on their approach , but it is saying that they need a new view if they want to continue as a voice for the majority of America. The shutdown needs to happen since economic reality has escaped everyone , regardless of party. Compromise drives everything yet I see no signs of it anywhere. This would be a great time for Newt to roll out his second Contract On America

What the people voted on was based on lies and hardly any of it has been delivered. Obama's performance ratings continue on a downward spiral. Most people think we're going in the wrong direction and favor repealing Obamacare. So yes, we're alienating ourselves from the extreme left, that's the whole idea.

What does "the federal government will shut down" even mean?
Will federal prisons open their doors because no guards or cooks will be there to care for the prisoners? No.
Does it mean Border Patrol will stay home and everyone in Mexico is free to move in? No.
Will airports close because there will be no Air Traffic Control to help us or TSA to harass us? No.
Will all the border crossings with Canada be closed because there will be no one there to check me in? No.
Does it mean NSA will not be recording my phone calls? No.
Will the President and Congress go home and stop harming the country? I'll bet not.

I think that's what were getting from some of the better Republicans right now, a no confidence vote on everything Obama and his lemmings have done to harm this country. Which by any sober measure are stunning.

Or Congress will continue to steal from future generations to buy votes today.

Amazing how you fail to mention that the Dems in the Senate as well as the President have declared they won't even negotiate with the House. And you want to blame the Republican controlled House? Last time I checked the House were elected by the people as well but since they don't agree with your political views then somehow they aren't important and they should just fall in line with the Liberal agenda.
There's a reason there are 3 branches of Government... Balance of power. You can't stand that one branch has the ability to "Balance the Power" of the other two.

We have been thru Government shutdowns before and the economy didn't collapse then and it won't now.

Of course. the House did send the Senate a bill to keep the Government operating in it's entirety as is so long as the ACA gets no funding. The Dems are so enamored by the ACA that they are willing to "shut down" everything to have it. Really? Who is really trying to shut down the Government?

So you think it's okay for the House to hold the country hostage because they don't want a law that was passed by both the legislative branch, the executive branch, and declared constitutional by the judicial branch to go into effect?

I'm not a huge fan of the ACA, but the House has no ground to stand on here, and the American people know it.

Edit: Just because the economy might not "collapse," there is still going to be billions of dollars lost in the private sector.

How can we say with certainty that a government shut-down won't cause the economy to collapse? Do you want to be the one who makes that "decision"...and for what reason? To make a President who is simply doing what the American people elected him to do, look like public enemy number one when it's his opponents who would destroy the opportunity that many less fortunate Americans will have to actually have health insurance for themselves and their families. No, this obstinate decision by a bunch of old men who want things to regress rather than progress, is strictly a selfish, self serving effort to keep down those who historically have always been on the bottom of the heap.

As has been said many times before...We subsidize trains, we subsidize planes, we subsidize automobiles, why not subsidize people?

Aren't people our most precious commodity? How good is the medical insurance for those who now will decide if their fellow Americans deserve to have similar coverage for themselves and their families?

If the conservatives are right and Obamacare is truly socialistic, then shouldn't we at least be socialistic in the name of giving something to our citizens that they and their children desperately need? Giving billions to failing banks and other large corporations is just as socialistic as giving a program of health insurance to our less fortunate but desperately needy population. Our conservative friends must somehow think that giving money to inanimate objects like banks and oil and steel and other such institutions is less socialistic than what the Obama folks want to do for those among us who are without health insurance.

The truth is that many of those who oppose the Obama program simply don't like the messenger. Plus the conservative brand of socialism is designed to shore up business interests that have a decidedly elitist air about them. I would rather be paying for programs that directly aided the health and well being of millions of Americans, than giving yet more help to those who don't need it.

Let's stop giving golden parachutes to the rich and favored and give some golden escalators to Americans who truly need a boost and by getting it, are lifted in spirit and given the assurance that they can actually get decent and affordable healthcare for their families. Something most of us take for granted....particularly those who have the power to deny that very same gift to other less fortunate people.

I think it's perfectly ok for the Representatives to do what their constituents elected them to do. If you feel they are holding the Country hostage then that's just sad. No one is being held hostage.

Who is going to lose billions? Do you even know what happens during a shut down? If the Government is shut down for a month every bill is paid, every grant is given during that month of shut down when they "open" back up. It's happened before and it will happen again. The Dems will have to give some ground or nothing will get done.
