The Lady Cougars easily handled the U of Akron-Wayne Lady Warriors last Friday, 74-57. Audrey Anadein and Karis Watts led the scoring with 18 points each, with Anadein grabbing 15 rebounds. Bailey Pierron added 13 points, including two treys. Nadyia Chavis contributed 6 points and 8 rebounds coming off the bench.

The Cougar men defeated Akron-Wayne 107-73. Dimitri Abner had a ferocious game inside, slamming home 20 points while hitting on 9 of 13 shots. Darnell Tubbs and Glenn Cosey had 17 points each, with Cosey sinking all 8 of his free throws. George Harper was perfect from the field, 5 for 5. Freshman Mohammed Conde came off the bench to lead the Cougar rebounding with 11.

The Cougar men will be hosting the 2011 Columbus State Men's Basketball Classic this Friday and Saturday, Nov 11 and 12, admission is $5.00 each day (free for Columbus State students). Here is the schedule and teams:

The Columbus State men and women defeated the OSU Ballstars club team in both matches last night. According the Ballstars website, their women's team won the national club team championship in 2011: http://www.eteamz.com/ballstars/
The Lady Cougars won 69-63, overcoming an 11-point deficit during the first half. Karis Watts led the Lady Cougars with 24 points while hitting 3 of 5 attemps behind the arc. Bailey Pierron added 15 points including 2 treys. Audrey Anadein collected 12 rebounds while scoring 8 points.
The Cougars easily won 104-46. Glenn Cosey led the scoring with 22 points (3 treys). Others scoring in double digits were Darnell Tubbs-15, Mohammed Conde-13, and George Harper-12. Conde, Brook Turson, and Cody Henson tied for the rebounding lead with 7 each.
The Cols State men earned a victory last night 93-71 (while dressing only 8 players) over St. Clair County CC from Huron MI. St. Clair led by 2 midway thru the first half before the Cougars came back to lead by 9 at the break.
Glenn Cosey led all scorers with 24 points. Also in double figures were Dimitri Abner (18 pts) , Darnell Tubbs (15 pts), and Brook Turson (13 pts). Cody Henson had his first start at center and led the Cougar rebounding with 10.
After two tough losses on the road at Owens CC last week by the Cougar men and women, they basked in two home wins over the weekend against visiting Cuyahoga CC.
Down at the half 38-43, the Lady Cougars scored 61 points in the second half to win 99-94. Bailey Pierron led all scorers with 27 points, hitting 12 of 18 total (3 out of 5 from the arc) and led CSCC rebounding with 7. Karis Watts added 21 points, including 8 free throws in the stretch, and Katie Stevens and Audrey Anadein each had 18 points.

The Cougar men defeated the Cuyahoga Challengers 82-69. Darnell Tubbs led all scorers with 19 points, and was the game's top rebounder with 13. Glenn Cosey tossed in 15 points, and Kendrick Ward, Dimitri Abner, Brook Turson, and George Harper all scored in double figures.
After a tough loss on Saturday against Owens CC, the Lady Cougars eked out a hard-fought win against Lakeland CC, 89-84. The Cols State women led at at the half 49-43, hitting 10 of 20 from the 3-point line at the break. Katie Stevens led with 24 points, Bailey Perron added 19, and Melea Smith came off the bench and tossed in 17 points (3 of 3 from the arc in the first half).

The Cougar men defended their #3 national ranking by defeating the #17 team Lakeland CC 97-93. Columbus State led by 24 early in the second half, then saw their lead evaporate to 2 points before hanging on for the win. Glenn Cosey led the team with 24 points.
Columbus State closes out its home season next Wednesday, Feb 15, hosting Cincinnati State. The Lady Cougars tip off at 5:30 PM, the men at 7:30 PM.
Columbus State men and women had a rough week this week, both losing at Cuyahoga CC on Saturday, and to Cincinnati State at home last night.
The Lady Cougars came out on the short end of 100-60 score to the Cinci State Surge. The Surge came out early playing a suffocating and physical defense, while shooting 50% from the floor. Bailey Pierron led CSCC with 15 points, hitting 3 of 5 trey attempts. The Lady Cougars are now 4-5 in league (5th) , 15-10 overall.

The Cougar men lost by 3 to Cuyahoga (and shooting 50% at the free throw line), then fell behind Cinci State last night in front of a packed house, 103-89.
Cougar sophomore Glenn Cosey came into the game with 1000 career points, and was on hand as Bryant Jones was honored at halftime as the Cougars all-time leading scorer with 1,015 points (1993-1994). Cosey ended the game with 20 points to surpass Jones and set a new Cougar career scoring record.
Jordan Watson, Dimitri Abner, and Darnell Tubbs all scored in double figures for Columbus State.
Cincinnati State came with a roster loaded with height and quickness. Two players stood out: PG Robert Jackson with 32 points and explosive moves (although he did carry the ball a lot), and freshman 6-11 center D'Wayne Bazemore from Columbus Walnut Ridge who came off the bench with 13 pts on 6 of 7 shooting and blocked the lane continually on defense.
The Cougars are now 7-4 in league play (tied for 1st with Cinci State) and 22-4 overall, with one league game left at Sinclair this Feb 18.
