Anybody that watched the OAC tournament this year witnessed a turn of the tides in Ohio D3 Prominence. Marietta will always compete for a title as long as Brewer is around. But with Harrison consistently out-recruiting the conference at BW, Palm stepping down at Heidelberg, and Thibeault turning around the program at John Carroll...I wouldn't look for the Marietta/Heidelberg trend to continue.
Baldwin Wallace going to Appleton was no fluke thing and I think the future will show us that. You can't predict that they will go back year after year, but there were 6 teams capable of winning that conference this year. It all comes down to the age old line, "get hot at the right time" and I think the Yellow Jackets showed everyone who they really are and what they are capable of in the postseason.
I think Denison will do big things in 2015. Coach Deegan (spelling?) has been doing great things for that program since taking over and will only continue to make positive strides at a conference and regional bid.
For Case Western, it once again all comes down to how well Englander calculates his schedule with regional teams between their conference matchups. They will always be worthy of a regional nod as long as they keep throwing their 1 and 2 and against everyone's 4 and 5. Not taking away from the talent they have. Just stating the obvious that they have a clear advantage sitting back while the OAC teams beat up on each other.
1) Baldwin Wallace
2) John Carroll
Until Denison regularly beats Wooster or gets pool c bids over Wooster and others, I would replace Denison with Wooster. I have a lot of respect for Deegan and agree he is doing great things, the fact is Denison has not made it to a regional. I also think until Baldwin Wallace or John Carroll regularly beat Marietta and win the OAC title, Marietta should be ahead of them.
agree with Heidleberg not being top five simply because with Palm stepping down, will Fitzgerald be able to continue to recruit the same class of Players. Heide, has always brought very good hitters to peaceful valley, but they seem to have struggled with developing good pitching. They bring some good pitching talent in but they do not always seem to develop or they get hurt. Fitzgerald has some to prove that he can recruit as well as Palm. If he does they will go back in the top 5.
