From the New Riegel School Board Meeting

Midland Athletic League met June 4 to discuss the possibility of keeping the remaining nine MAL schools that include New Riegel, Bettsville, Hopewell-Loudon, Old Fort, St. Wendelin, Fremont St. Joe, Lakota, North Baltimore and Calvert together as a non-football league. Schools with football could play football in another league. Other schools are considering the proposal and a decision should be reached in August.

Would the BVC proposal for Hopewell-Loudon and North Baltimore be ok with a football-only setup for those 2?

In all likelihood, I could see those 2 leaving regardless, while Calvert, Lakota, and St. Joe's stay in a 7-school MAL but play football somewhere else like the TAAC. It would still allow Bettsville, New Riegel, Old Fort, and St. Wendelin to play a nearly-full league schedule too.

I think H-L and NB would have to play a full slate of games in 2 leagues like Leipsic and Pandora-Gilboa do in the BVC and PCL.

NB agreed to join BVC in 2014-15 school year....no mention of remaining in MAL in non-football sports....MAL doomed? HL vote is today I think and imagine it will go same way. Gotta look out for themselves first so I understand the decision.
