They did it. I believe they never won a meet until the OCC meet. Yesterday they won their district. Looks like they are in postion to make it 3 state titles in a row as they won 5 events at the district.

I agree that they are the favorite at this point. They have the prohibitive favorite in the 100 and 200, should score significant points in both hurdle races, might squeak out a few more points in the 100 or 200 and will be the favorites in the 4x100 and should score well in the 4x400. It will be their 4th consecutive title if they win.

I'm not so sure Reynoldsburg is the favorite right now. Solon looks very, very good. And very, very balanced.

Solon state ranked events following Districts:

200 - Butler, 24.81(7th)

800 - Haiss, 2:11.11(1st)

1600 - Haiss, 4:50.33(1st)

300 Hurdles - Yaeger, 44.34(7th)

4x100 - 48.20(4th)

4x200 - 1:40.34(2nd)

4x400 - 3:50.15(1st)

HJ - Obi, 5'4(T-8th)

Discus - Gray, 138-03(3rd)

That's 54, with Reynoldsburg sitting at 51. The meet very well may come down to the 4x400, and right now that favors Solon.

I agree that Solon is really good. You have probably even convinced me they are co-favorites, but I would still probably favor Reynoldsburg. Haiss is a great runner, but I see it being much harder for her to win both the 1600 and 800 this year than for Gause to double in the 100 and 200. Then again, it is a lot easier to false start in the 100 and 200. And after last year's state meet 4x400 leg by Gause, and having seen what they have run without competition, I would doubt they will be 5th in the 4x400 on June 2. The two teams right now (before regional meets are contested) look like the clear top two.

Plus I think my 300 hurdler is actually in 7th place with 43.71 now that Milesplit has remembered that Canal Winchester is in D1. :)

Also you are saying things the 7 place sixth place that to me means toss up to make it to finals. Reynoldsburg girls are know toss up only false starts or dropped baton can prevent them from points they should get .

It will indeed be a 2-team race. Reynoldsburg will need peak performances by Washington in both hurdles events. If they get that and avoid false starts or poor baton passes in the other events, they should get their 4th in a row. Another important event will be in the 3200 in the regional tomorrow, where RHS freshman Leah Wallace needs to be at her best to qualify for the state. She was the highest finishing freshman in the state X-country last fall, but had 12 upperclassmen finish ahead of her, and that will not score points at the state, but finishing in the top 4 in the regional will at least give her that opportunity.

Well, I did some serious homework, and this is how it would wrap up if every state qualifier had the same times/distances they had in their regional. I looked at ALL qualifiers, but was primarily interested only in those teams that scored at least 55 points in their regional, since I figured it would take about that amount to win the state. This worked out to be Solon in Region 1, Lorain in Region 2. Reynoldsburg and Dublin Coffman in Region 3, and Cincinnati Withrow in Region 4. State point totals for those 5 teams would end up like this:

5) Dublin Coffman 14 points (they have a deep team but no standouts who can give them a lot of points at the state level).

4) Cincinnati Withrow 23 points. Really good in a few events, but not as good as the top 3, and not as deep as normal.

3) Lorain 31 points. Not sure what happened, but their 4X2 team was DQd in the regional, which will probably cost them some points in the state.

2) Solon 42 points...Picks up some valuable points by being projected for 1st in the 800 and 2nd in the discus, two events the other teams won't/can't score in.

1) Reynoldsburg 53 points...4 projected 1sts (300 hurdles, 200, 4X1, and 4X4) a projected 2nd in the 100, and a projected 4th in the 110 hurdles. There have been many other important cogs in the puzzle, but it has sure been nice to have Destinee Gause (rhymes with cause or pause) and Faith Washington around for 4 years!! And by the way, thank you Coach Hammond for your many excellent years. You will be just as tough to replace.

Don't give up hope yet. Carter & Barnes could pile up some points in the state meet, but the "Did Not Finish" in the 4X100 hurts them. What happened in that event?

to the lady raiders also and the occ in general in all sports this year. If they did a point system on overall sports occ would come out on top.
