There was VCU and Butler last year, but who will it be this year? For me, I have NC State and UNLV.

As posted on the Tournament Selection thread, I've also got Vegas. Behind the firepower of Larry Bird-sized marksmen Mike Moser and Chace Stanback, as well Oscar Bellfield and Anthony Marshall, the Runnin' Rebels are ready for a return to "The Show."

They have the highest single-game scoring total for any team in basketball this year at 124 points, with a variety of athletic, lengthy weapons ready to shoot you down at any moment. Aside from Kentucky, Duke, North Carolina, Missouri and maybe Florida, there might not be a better spurt team in the nation than Vegas.

They will be in the Sweet 16, where I hope their luck runs out against Duke.

I also have Creighton over UNC in the second round. This is more of a pipe dream, however. :D

N.C. State is another good pick. I have the Wolf Pack losing the Sweet 16 to Kansas, but that could change before the bracket pool deadline.

After watching NC destroy NCS, hard to pick them. Plus IU beat them at NCS.

N.C. State fell to UNC after missing on a last-second opportunity to win the game. This was despite the fact that the Pack's best player didn't play the final 8 and a half minutes of the game due to two bogus foul calls.

UNC earned the win, but N.C. State certainly didn't lose it. The Pack led that game the majority of the afternoon and then things simply got out of hand with regard to officiating.

IU is also a really good team and has a chance to reach the Final Four. I liked the comparison that another poster made in likening this year's crop with the '02 Hoosiers that beat Duke. An NBA frontcourt talent in Zeller ('02 had Jared Jeffries), a cast of killers on the perimeter in Hulls, Watford and Roth ('02 had Fife, Hornsby and Coverdale) and a red sea of loyal followers that will fill any arena in which they play in an attempt to will the Hoosiers onto New Orleans.

I actually had them knocking off Kansas before UNC beats them again.

Yea I agree, that NCST/UNC game was terribly officiated. Couldn't believe the no call on UNC in the closing seconds, among other bad calls, late in game. Looked like someone wanted UNC to win it all.

I don't think the calls on NCST's best player were that bad. That was bad coaching. But they went from calling everything ticcy-tacky to letting a UNC player run over a guy with 4 seconds left.

I like Vandy as well, but don't consider them a Cinderella as a #5 seed. I like #11 Texas as my Cinderella.

Yeah, they're definitely not flying under anyone's radar now.

Murrey state at 30-1 looks like that team but its hard to say if they are really good enough to win a few games.

I like Florida state making the final 4......to me thats a cinderella

The ACC Champion as a Cinderella? If they won the whole thing I don't think they'd be called Cinderella. Now Butler making the last two Finals. . .that's a Cinderella.

The way the tourney's going this year, there's not gonna be a Cinderella. There have really been no upsets.

VCU over Wichita State?
Colorado over UNLV?

Still have 16 more first round games to go as well.

The conference outside of UNC and Duke are terrible. And the fact that FSU won the ACC just tells me how overrated both Duke and UNC are.

FSU might want to worry about the Bonnies, because the Bonnies are good enough to win the ACC most years.

I saw they were struggling against them. May not make it to round 2. We shall see.

For a conference that stinks, those 8 national titles compared to 1 from the Big Ten in the last 20 years sure stands out though you have to admit. Not to bad for a terrible conference.............hey hey

Look, I will attempt to find some common ground with you.

UNC is a great team, they have a good chance to win the title this year. Duke is terrible though, I won't move an inch on that position what-so-ever.

Norfolk State gets it done. Only makes me more upset about the hose job Robert Morris got two years ago vs. Villanova.

Props to Norfolk...now excuse me, I have to burn my bracket.

Already did. Listed my bracket on ebay. Can be used for toilet paper or to make airplanes. Not worth a damn for picking winners in the tourney.

There is always next year.

Great post, backed up by a Duke loss to a 15 seed.... LOL

UNC without Henson isn't a great team though, they are ok but will struggle to get to the elite 8 if he is not healthy enough. They may not even make it that far if they don't shoot better. UNC has their 2 starting shooting guards sitting out with ACL tears, now if Henson can't go they are in serious trouble.
