Xavier University Club Football Program

With the recruiting deadline approaching, there will be many student-athletes whom will come to realize the opportunity to continue playing football may be waning. This does not have to occur.

The Xavier University club football program is designed to serve students whom have an interest in continuing to play football after they graduate high school without sacrificing the exceptional educational opportunities provided by our prestigious university.

The Musketeers football program is a member of the National Club Football Association, and participates in the Midwest Club Football Conference which includes teams from Ohio State (main campus and Newark), Southern Illinois-Edwardsville, University of Michigan-Flint, Miami(OH), Wright State, and Marquette.Xavier University will also play NCAA D3/NAIA JV teams, on occasion. The first NCFA national championship will be held in November, 2012.

While not associated with the NCAA, all games are played under NCAA rules. NCFA rules permits teams to conduct no more than four practices per week during the season.

As the videos show, this is a competitive brand of football involving what is best described as REAL student-athletes. We have players from several states, including Ohio, Indiana, Florida, Kentucky, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Michigan, and Wisconsin.

There are no scholarships, grants-in-aid, etc. directly related to the football program. However, in 2010, 100% of all Xavier University freshmen received financial aid or scholarships. The main idea of our club program is to field a strongly competitive team, while allowing for the necessary time to successfully complete students' degree programs. Xavier University ranked #1 in graduation rate, #1 in freshmen retention and #6 in best undergraduate teaching (2010 US News and World ranking of Midwest colleges and universities). (The Class of 2015 profile: 1,155 students, Middle 50% GPA = 3.21-3.87, Middle 50% SAT = 1070-1260, Middle 50% ACT = 23-28. 48% are out-of-state students.) 100% of students studying computer science, nursing, and accountancy have a job when they graduate. Xavier offers 85 majors and 54 minors.

We want to hear from the high school football player whom has the grades to attend our university, but due to his love for the game, may be considering other schools for the purpose of extending his playing career. Why not have the best of educational opportunity and still play competitive football by attending Xavier University?

The admissions office has informed us enrollment applications from high schoolers will be accepted until May 1st. So, please let your student-athletes know there is a great opportunity to get a vaunted education and still step onto the gridiron for four more years.

Xavier University club football is honoring the youth football organizations of the area on Saturday night, September 22nd. Youth Football Night will be held in conjunction with the Musketeers first home game (Marx Stadium, Walnut Hills HS). Free admittance to the Xavier v. Miami U club game with paid adult admission.

This Sunday, 5:30pm, on the campus of Thomas More College, the visiting Xavier Musketeers club football team take on the Saints JV. The Musketeers will be led on offense by freshman Brendan Gilboy, whom played his high school ball at Walsh Jesuit. In addition, the Xavier offense has new starters in freshman tailback Nick Mills (Lakewood),sophomore Greg Leksan (Moeller), and tight end Colton Hofrichter (Vista, CA). The offensive line is led by senior center-guard Collin Tulley (VASJ), and David Horton (Marian Catholic, Chicago).

Anchoring the defense will be freshman nose tackle David Donatello (Rochester, NY), sophomore defensive end Chris Hephner (Montpelier, OH), and linebackers Tyler Skeens, junior,(Elder, Cincinnati), and sophomores Nick Billy (Wayne, NJ), and Jonas Bieliauskas (LaSalle, Cincinnati).

"With numerous player injuries suffered in the past two weeks depleting the football program’s roster to a level which creating a safety concern, the recreation department, club officers, and coaching staff have agreed to cancel the remainder of the 2012 season. The Xavier University Club Football team regrets the inconvenience this will create for members of the Midwest Club Football Conference, and the National Club Football Association, but student-athlete safety is the primary concern."

Please let it be known that a current advertisement for the Xavier University club football program's Youth Night showing on the High School Game of the Week page of WCPO.com contains incorrect information. A full page ad in the Crosstown Showdown program is also incorrect. Due to the season's cancellation, there will be no Youth Night this Saturday at Marx Stadium. The Xavier University club football program, its officers, and coaches apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

What looked like a very promising season (which, in part led to this promotional advertisement), unfortunately became a victim of injuries and associated events in connection with creating the proper football atmosphere which is necessary for the football program to seriously compete with other club football teams within the MWFC.

Advertising on WCPO.com, originally purchased for the purpose of promoting upcoming home games will now focus on the program's 2013 recruiting agenda.
