What bowl game do you think the Buckeyes play in?
One thing in their favor is their rich tradition and fan base which travels awfully well which leads to $$$ for bowl selection committees. However, at 6-6 overall and 3-5 record in a weak conference one must wonder how good of a bowl game they can get.
My prediction is the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl. This game pits a bowl eligible MAC team versus a Big Ten Team. I'm thinking Toledo would represent the MAC because of their good season and close proximity to Detroit. There were six Big Ten schools with better overall records than Ohio State so I think this would be be a logical choice for the selection committee. I know this is not what Ohio State is used to going to but given what has went down this year they can be proud of becoming bowl eligible and getting the opportunity to play in a game no matter where it is.

There was talk on the news last night, of a Florida vs Ohio State bowl game. I forget which bowl it was.

This year the Buckeyes may be able to sneak past the Gators. I think that the Bucks, even with all of their well-publicized problems this season, can play well enough to beat this team.
I'll predict the Insight Bowl against either Baylor or Texas.

A rematch? Don't really think so, but possible. Toledo may want it, as they felt they got "homered" in the game at ohio this year. Phantom call on a kick off or punt return.

Notre Dame and OSU won't play in a bowl cause ND is going to champs sports vs. ACC.

Not only money, but the team misses out on that extra month of legal practice time.

on the espn 'bowl projections" they have osu in either the gator against florida or the little cesears bowl against ohio. not much of a choice, but like a previous poster said, it is still a reward for all the hard work they did and all the distractions they had to over come. one can only look back and see how close this team was to being possibily a 10-2 team if not for key mistakes .one benefit of going to a bowl game is the extra week of practice for this young team. of course, the ncaa will have the ultimate say in whether they go to a bowl game or not.

Normally i would say that a bowl game is great and the extra practice is great. In this case the practice is not going to do anygood even if Urban is coaching because 3 weeks isnt enough time to get much of his system in.If Fickell and his staff are coaching the its even more worthless to practice for the bowl because they get no experience in the new syste. I wouldnt be upset with the bowl ban coming for this year.

How about the "Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl" (no, that is not a joke...it is the name of a real bowl this year...as is the "Famous Idaho Poatao Bowl")
These bowl names are getting bad.

The Ohio State University sponsors more varsity sports than any other university in America. Of all those sports, only Football and men's basketball are profitable. before you say greed is the answer to everything, remember the burden these programs carry for everyone else. Pager, even if Urban is named coach this week, Luke Fickell will coach the bowl game and you will get 2 more weeks of practice. If OSU is offered a bowl game, with the amount of underclassmen playing significant roles on this year's team, you take any bowl offered for the extra practice time and allows the Buckeyes to recruit in the city of where they are playing the bowl in.

Lady bird are you serious. 10-2, that is 4 wins that you are giving this team due to so called key mistakes. wow, that is a good one. thanks for the laugh, tho.

They should skip a bowl this year and make it self imposed as most seem to think OSU will get some NCAA post season ban anyway. Why not do it on a down year and hope that it won't be an issue down the road when the stakes might be higher?

They should have been no worse then 8-4. They should have beat Nebraska(If Miller doesn't get hurt, they win this game going away) and they should have beat Purdue. Game should have never went to OT. You can't allow a blocked PAT to happen.
I heard that OU is saying they want to play the Buckeyes, so why wouldn't they match them up. Would be a great game.

tOSU doesn't deserve to go to a bowl. They need to sit at home, get on with their UrbananaMeyer mancrush, and figure out who is gonna man up for next year. Let's see if they can leave the tattoo shops, car dealerships, and souvenir markets alone over the course of the winter and come in fresh and hungry in the spring.

OSU deserves and is Bowl eligible like any team which is 6-6 (not a losing record) or better. They are an attractive team to many Bowls due to the multitudes of alumni. Additionally football programs love the extra practice time to, in essence, develop talent ahead of Spring for next years players.
While it would seem to be a good idea to self impose a Bowl ban ahead of any possible NCAA sanctions, it would appear Gene Smith would have already weighed this possibility and does not consider it to be of that much value.
In the past OSU teams playing in a bowl following a Michigan loss have underperformed IMO. Perhaps this will be different under Fickel but a letdown after such a tumultuous season seems inevitable.

Have fun with this for 9 more months because you will disappear next september after the first 2/3 games and the Buckeyes look explosive for the 1st time in yrs.

They better take a bid, because they may not be eligible for a while after the NCAA gets done with them.

Playing in the Gator bowl with a 6-6 record is a joke! I saw one projection with OSU going to the Gator while Penn State(10-2 I think)who beat Ohio State going to the Insight Bowl.Tell me somethings not wrong with that.Biggest problem with the bowl games are all the conference tie ins. Get rid of those and you will have alot more attractive bowl games.

The big problem is that after the capital one bowl and outback bowl the other bowls with tie ins do not have to go by record. That is the problem. Money and reputation get picked before record. It's pretty obvious that the gator bowl wants osu and florida in the game. The only way this does not happen is if Michigan does not get bcs bowl. If that happens every one drops a spot.

What Cash? Most teams lose money going to bowl games, and considering they will be a lower tier bowl game there is no way OSU is going to make any money on going to a bowl game.

Nobody wants to touch Ped St University right now. The talk on the radio couple weeks ago was that the Big Ten office was hoping like crazy PSU would lose and not make the Big Ten championship because they didn't want the media talking about the scandal the whole time instead of the football game.

Penn State players did nothing wrong...they should not be punished for that. Florida is 6-6 too by the way. It is all about the Money for these selections...
If they cared at all they should take the 1 vs 2, 3 vs 4, 5 vs 6, and 7 vs 8. Tell me why on earth we should be watching VT and Michigan! Michigan State deserves that game before Michigan but neither should be there because it should be the 7 vs 8 teams in the BCS.
