Heard that this annual end of seson tournament (10/15 this year) will be played on 7 or 8 courts which means that they'll have to use another close school unless teams have started dropping out. Any idea how they'll divide up the pools? Host school Pickerington North will be challenged by such competitive Central District schools as DeSales, Olentangy Liberty, Newark, Bloom Carroll, Jonathan Alder, Big Walnut, Upper Arlington, Grove City and Olentangy but the only strong out of area school seems to be Beavercreek. Is the tournament up to 32 teams yet?

I heard they may split the tournament into two waves of playing time. I don't know if that's true or not - but it was an idea at one point.

That makes sense. Some courts had 6 rounds last year. They played each pool separately like a USAV Juniors pool, so every team played 3 matches, and there was no overall winner. I think Pickerington North was pooled with Olentangy Liberty, Big Walnut and Ready in the top pool. This year, if records and state rankings are used would seem to promote DeSales and Bloom Carroll.

I would like to see the pools for the PN tournament. Anyone have word on when that will be done?

Top teams would appear to be Pickerington North, DeSales, Newark, Olentangy Liberty, Bishop Ready, Jonathan Alder, Bloom Carroll, Upper Arlington, St. Joseph's Academy, Grove City, Beavercreek, Big Walnut and Olentangy. Don't picture teams in same league/conference being in same pool which would rule out PN/Newark/Grove City and Ready/DeSales. How they'll run it is anyone's guess.

I just hope they use some quality line judges for these matches. Hopefully, the line judges will be trained before the tournament and not 10 minutes before the matches.

Not how it happens, starbuddy. Unfortunately :(

You could always head over, grab a flag, and lend your expertise on Saturday. I am sure they wouldn't turn down a willing line judge.

SourGrapes, you never cease to amuse.

30 team tournament played in pools of 3 at Pickerington North (two waves, all day) and Toll Gate Middle School, 12089 Tollgate Rd, Pickerington, OH, about 3 minutes/2 miles from the high school.

Reportedly, the morning wave will be 4 pools playing on 4 courts at 9am, 10:15am, 11:30am with 12:15pm crossover matches with 3rd place vs. 3rd place and 2nd place vs. 2nd place before 2:00pm matches in the main gym (1 vs. 1). Upper Arlington, Ready, Alexander in a pool; Orange, Lancaster, Liberty Union in a pool; Lakewood, New Albany and Teays Valley in a pool; Scioto, Licking Heights and Pickerington Central in a pool.

As first wave action is concluding, play starts in pools 5 and 6 at the middle school at 1pm, 2:15pm, 3:30pm, with 4:15pm crossover (3 vs. 3, 2 vs. 2) and 1 vs. 1 playing at 6pm. Darby, Eastmoor Academy and Groveport in aj pool; Hathaway Brown, Reynoldsburg and Walnut Ridge in a pool.

Action continues at the high school with 12 additional teams, arguably the stronger group by far. Times are slated for 3pm, 4:15pm, 5:30pm with crossover at 6:15 and the winner of pool 7 vs. winner of pool 8 and the winner of pool 9 vs. winner of pool 10.

Gahanna, Bloom Carroll and Jonathan Alder in a pool; Olentangy Liberty, DeSales and Beavercreek (arguably the strongest pool), Grove City, Centerburg and St. Joseph Academy in a pool; and Big Walnut, Olentangy and Pickerington North in a pool.

Looks like a VERY long days for fans.

A lot has changed due to prom and other conflicts. Additional pool and five courts early. More when I get the information.

Okay, the plot thickens :) There's an extra pool to start the day and there will be play on all 5 courts at Pickerington North for the first 3 rounds. The pools have also changed.

Pool 1 plays in the main gym on court 1 and has Upper Arlington, Bishop Ready and Alexander. A down year for the excellent Alexander program, or this would be an even more engagin pool. Play starts at 9am (UA v. BR), then 10:15am (or as soon as the previous match concludes, with BR vs. A) and 11:30am (UA vs. A).

Pool 2 is in the fieldhouse on court 3 and features Olentangy Orange, Lancaster and Liberty Union. OO vs. L, L vs. LU, OO vs. LU, same times as above.

Pool 3 is in the fieldhouse on court 4 and has Lakewood, New Albany and Teays Valley. L vs. NA, NA vs. TV, L vs. TV, same times as above.

Pool 4 plays on court 5 in the fieldhouse and has Dublin Scioto, Licking Heights and Pickerington Central. DS vs. LH, LH vs. PC, DS vs. PC, same times as above.

The new pool (A) will play on court 2 in the main gym and has Olentangy Liberty, St. Frances DeSales and Hilliard Darby. This pool has no crossover matches - OL vs. DeSales, DeSales vs. HD, OL vs. HD. Done. Same times as above.

At 12:15pm, there are four crossover matches with the 3rd place finisher in pool 1 playing the 3rd place finisher in pool 2 on court 1, 3rd place pool 3 vs. 3rd place pool 4 on court 4, 2nd place pool 1 vs. 2nd place pool 2 on court 3, and 2nd place pool 3 vs. 2nd place pool 4 on court 5. This is followed by two matches at 2:00pm: court 1 has the winner of pool 1 vs. the winner of pool 2 and court 3 has the winner of pool 3 vs. the winner of pool 4 on court 3.

Meanwhile, play begins for a 4-team pool on court 2 at 12:15pm. The pool has Big Walnut, Olentangy, Pickerington North and Beavercreek. The first match on court 2 is BW vs. O, followed by a 1:30pm match between PN and B. At 3:15, this pool (pool B) plays on both courts 2 and 5. BW vs. PN on court 2, O vs. B on court 5. At 4:30pm, it's BW vs. B on court 2, and O vs.
PN on court 5. This concludes play for Pool B.

At 1:00pm, play in pool 5 begins at Toll Gate Middle School, almost a stone's throw from Pickerington North with a 4-team pool playing on two courts. The schools are Eastmoor Academy, Groveport, Hathaway Brown and Reynoldsburg. On court 1 at 1pm is EA vs. G. On court 2 is HB vs. R. At 2:15pm, on court 1 is EA vs. HB while court 2 has G vs. R. At 3:30pm, it's EA vs. R on court 1 and G vs. HB on court 2. This concludes play.

Back to Pickerington North where pools 6 and 7 begin play at about 3pm, but again play will begin as soon as a court is open from the previous match on that court. Pool 6 will play on court 3 in the fieldhouse and has Gahanna, Bloom-Carroll and Jonathan Alder while pool 7 will play on court 1/main gyam and has Grove City, Centerburg and St. Joseph Academy who plays a powerhouse schedule. Times are 3pm, 4:15pm and 5:30pm. Order of play is
G vs. BC and GC vs. C at 3pm, BC vs. JA and C vs. St. J at 4:15pm, and G vs. JA and GC vs. St. J at 5;30pm. This is followed by crossover matches.

At 6:15pm, on court 1, the 3rd place finisher in pool 6 plays the 3rd place finisher in pool 7. at 6:15pm, on court 3, 2nd place in pool 6 plays 2nd place in pool 7. Finally, on court 1 at 8:00pm, the winner of pool 6 plays the winner of pool 7. There are a lot of great matchups in pool 6 and pool 7.

Biggest matches of the day could be Upper Arlington-Bishop Ready, Olentangy Liberty-DeSales, Bloom-Carroll-Jonathan Alder, Centerburg-St. Joseph Academy, Pickerington North-Beavercreek plus the winner of BC/JA vs. the winner of C/St. J.

Some very good volleyball played yesterday. Great end of season tournament put on my old district. Jonathon Alder disappointed though, I thought they might be in the running for the D2 district.
